Well it starts out at lvl 1 with 1000 gold, then it goes on up from there according to the levels. So with an Ingenious map you get the most money and as Blaze said you also get a random arty.
So it would really depend on what you mean by "good money." You will get LOTS of reagents, gems, junk armor/weapons, scrolls and gold coins. Basically, token trash bag items except for gems, regs and gold. There's nothing special in any of them until you get to Ingenious and grab the arty inside. No other rare items, no deco in these chests. Although I believe there is a lot of deco items we never see on this shard, like wall hanging weapon racks, etc. I've browsed through the icons in a Run UO program called Pandora, just to see what was available in the base UO program itself.
But there is also gold from all the monsters that will spawn from chests. Just be careful not to pull items too fast if you are alone or you will spawn more monsters.
I believe this shard (while fun) is more geared to action, events, monsters, gear, and pets. Not so much on deco or chests. Many items are not to be found here. I think they are saving them for big auctions to make mega rare items which will suck a huge amount of gold from the economy, and that's why they do what they do. For those of us who love deco, we make do with what is already available.
I would love to be able to tweak the loot o' matic machine for the SOS chests, prison camp chests, dungeon chests and t-map chests. But they wouldn't let me in there, the GMs hate me. I'm completely ignored, except for the time I donated $60.
I firmly believe this shard would be the ultimate, #1 freeshard online if they were to implement these changes.
