Gear for Bio pets

Post by Zanther »

I am looking for some advice from players with human bio pets on what they use for gear. It would be nice to see what people use for each slot and why. I know I hear the plate of honor set is good for the reflect but I would think you could mix and match and get better.

So what is your Bio wearing and what weapon does it use?

I'm actually curious too as to how bio gear works because if a bio is fully maxxed out stats but you put gear with stats on him do they stack or not? For instance putting jackal's collar for the dex bonus. Also if they have full resist does added gear with resist increase their resist?

I don't have much in the way of particulars, but I can make a few suggestions. Bio humans do need a spell channel wep. I would strongly recommend something with stam and/or mana leech, with stam being more important if the bio has good special moves. I've seen people suggest something like a Blade of Insanity with a SC deed added to it, but there are literally unlimited options. As far as armor goes...reflect phys and HP/Stam/Mana regen are good choices, and maxed resists are important too. Bramble coats tend to be popular choices because they have 25% RP and 15% DCI built in. Don't worry about things like LRC and stat bonuses, since bios don't need LRC at all and a few more points of STR/DEX/INT are redundant. Bios tend to be better tanks than damage dealers, so prioritize building them up defensively.

human bios should have reflect physical damage, full mediable (leather or mage armor), as much regens (sta, mana, hitpoint regeneration) as you can get and some resists on its armor. with this armorstats and a spellchanneling stamina / manaleech weapon its a awesome  pet

I Belive Something Need's To Be Done With The *Beast* Type Bio-Pets there damage is way less per say compared to the *Human Type's* Even With The 120/130 Pet Power-Scroll's Added. Maybe A Extra Magic/Melee Ability?.. Point I Am Trying To Make Is The Both Need To Balanced Out Somehow, To Make Them Equal To The Human Types. Any Other Players Agree Please Comment Thanks.

I'd agree with KG except for the "Capitalize Every Word" thing. J/K KG, I got your back!

First thing you'll want to do with your biopet is to oint up the resistances to 50+ each, that way you have many more options with armor. :D

Here are my thoughts..
Jewelry (necklace included): HCI, DCI, DI, then FC/FCR/SDI if you want it effective at casting.
Armor: HP/Stam Regen, Reflect, then Mana Regen and Leather/Mage armor if casting - Self Repair is also nice too.
Weapon: Blade of Insanity is awesome, especially if leveled, SC and the arty tag removed. Quite expensive, so good alternatives are weapons with SC and high Stam, HP, and (again, if casting) Mana Leeches. Some Hit effects (Lightning, Fireball, Harm, Magic Arrow) are great to have as well because Human Bios have a Whirlwind attack.
Shield: SC, HCI, DCI, Reflect.
Artifacts: Headband of Power, Follower of the Old Lord sash, Royal Hive Robe, Crimson Cincture, Bat Wings sandles.

Edit: Oh and if you're wondering why I make a point to mention the casting, its because I prefer my bio to not cast spells - I even went so far as to get its magery to 0. Methinks the DPS on multiple weapon swings is higher than a flamestrike's.
