Okay. I don't know if many of you know this, but mac's suck for games. I bought a macbook air because my Alienware decided that it wanted to die after a couple years of being a loyal companion.

To give you guys a little bit of knowledge as to what has had to happen for people like me that want to play UOEX on a mac, we have had to use a program called wine with X11. That is until OS:X Mountain Lion decided that it wanted to come out and change everything on us.

So, I decided to venture out on myself. I finally got UOEX working with X11 again, but there was one huge problem. No razor. This posed a problem. Obviously.

My next plan was to code up my own version of razor. That didn't work.
Next, try razor with wine. That didn't work, and the hell if I am installing mono.

So what was left? Besides me crying in a corner cutting my wrists because I couldn't enjoy the game the way I like to play it?

Porting.

So, what I did was took the little bit of coding of C# and C++ that I had learned in college, plus my knowledge I had taught myself back when I used to hack PS2 games and emails, and brought the two programs together :)

I am here to show you guys, Razor AND UOEX working together in one program for OS:X!

No more opening terminal to type in -

Code: Select all

cd documents
cd games
cd uoex
wine client.exe
Everything is compiled into one .APP file. I was using it for OSI originally so you will have to have the UOEX client downloaded as well, because the patch is at 7.0 something. All you have to do is select the UOEX client in razor. Input the server and port and play!

Coli, if you are reading this, I would love for this to be submitted to the getting started part of the website. People would enjoy your server being played on PC and MAC.

Let me know, PM me in game. I can set people up with the download so everyone can play now. :)

I hate to break it to you but there is a way easier way. I play UO exclusively on my Macbook Pro. I use a program called VMware Fusion, which you then install any windows you want into, i picked XP. Then VMware Fusion runs Windows XP in a window, which you can make full screen. Razor works fine BTW. You can do the same thing with a program called Parallels. These first two are emulators. Or use Bootcamp that came with your Mac to Partition your Hard drive and make a Windows Partition. When you re-start your mac you choose if you want to start Windows or OSX.

WTG getting a Mac. If like me the only game you play on a computer is UO you will be happy. If you have any questions about anything let me know.

I know about both of those. The issue is they take up a lot of harddrive space, and they tend to use more CPU making the computer laggy. I have tried both of them.

This way just makes the game install like a normal apple app and it runs just as smooth as one as well.

Plus there is no downloading lots of programs. You only download this ported version, install it and bam you can play. Razor and UO are both in the same app so it starts razor then starts UO.

Pretty cool - I've been running it through Wine, although no Razor for me as well.

I personally use Parallells on my Mac to play when I am not using my home computer. Works just fine for me... Yes it takes a couple gig worth of hd space and cost s money to install but then you get a fully native instlal of xp to put all the programs you want to use on the mac side.... but this looks to work wonderful ... i am sure you can add support for easyuo just as easy but would need to enclude the scripts you want to run inside the app bundle i think ...

Great job ...
