i have been playing for a little while now since a freind of mine told be to try this game i have thought it is pretty awsome so far. i have been looking everywhere for a minning tool and a saw. people have told me that tinkerers sell them but i have fond not that do i have check quite a few places. i saw a player selling a saw for quite a large sum of money and was wondering if you can only get these items in a certain way. i had seen on the wiki and herd from a few people that the minning tool and the saw could be purchesed in the gargole town. so i was playing a little while ago and found the gargole town so i whent there and checked npc in the town i could find and they all had the same or simmilare stuff that all the other npcs had in the other towns. so i was checking one of the npc shops in the gargole town and then i was attacked by a large group of large scorpions and a few other monsters, the problem with this was i had herd that if your a young player monsters cant attack you unless you attack them or if you are in like a dungon or something so is the gargole town a dungon or somethin i was just wondering because i was killed horably and was under the asumption i was protected by the town gards since i was in a town. so if the gargole town is not a town i think it should be renamed or someone should tell the gargoles to employ gards.

For any tool that you want, it is far better to just pay the tinker about 300 gold and train yourself up to around 30 skill. Then buy a few ingots and and a tinker tool and make your own tools. It is hard tp find tools on player vendors and NPC's because they are so easy and cheap to make. Any tools you do find on player vendors are most likely runic tools which are designed for GM skill to make superior weapons and armor.

First of all, most likely you had to step out of town to draw the monsters in. But perhaps somebody already had some follow them in earlier, no matter. Just because you are in a protected town, does not mean you are safe. Either you, someone else or an NPC has to call guards for a guard to appear to save you. (It works there because I tested it out) I am not positive a Gargoyle will call guards, but sometimes even a monster will take some time before it decides to attack you; NPC's may take time to call guards.

As far as being attacked, you must still carry the 'Young" tag or you are fair game regardless of how long played. My guess is that you had lost your tag. If you hadn't, then you may want to page staff and ask them to check into it. (That is also assuming you didn't tease the monsters, call them names or poke sticks at them to cause them to attack you.)

ok well thanks for your advise i will try it out, but i have not seen ingots anywhere do you have to buy them from players.
also i did no teasing of the large scorpions they just attacked me and when i saw that they were coming at me and hit me i typed the command to summon the gards. i have never used the command before so i dont know what it looks like if it works though i read it just makes the mosters following you to disapeare but that did not happen and no gards showed up after i tryed to get my to my stuff because i thought it was just a mistake that they somehow just ignored the young player status but it wasent the case because they just attacked me again and there was more of them there so it did not matter the stuff i had was gone i did however go around asking if someone could help distract them so i could get my stuf but nobody wanted to help me and my stuff went away so i just bought a new set of armor and the few things that i could buy that i had the other stuff is gone so i will just deal with it. i did check to see if i lost my tag because i asumed it would go away after a while and it has been a couple of days but when i whent up to other monsters in britain and a few other places the status was working fine so who knows what hapened perhaps those scorpions were just having a bad day or mabie they just wanted the cooked ribs i had mabie nobody intites them to barbeques.

It would probably help if you spelled guards instead of gards.

sorry i mis spelled a few words on here but i did spell it right during the incedent and i am not complaning i was wondering besides i am ok with what happened i am a very calm person i dont care that i lost a bunch of stuff i can esaly get the lost items back its not like i was making a delivery for a bank of millions of freshly minted gold coins i only had some cheap stuff i just added the incedent because i thought i should this post was mainly a question about tools because there is not much on the wiki regarding placement of places to buy specific things that noobs might not know the location of, also i am aware of my bad grammer if it bothers you then sorry and if it is to much tohelp point out an answer to my question then you can just be like everyone else i know and just ignore me and cary on with whatever your doing.

i dont post things online much and i dont see a spell checker on here if things need to be spelled correctly then from now on i will type in word then paste it over was not aware that this was english class from reading other posts i saw a lot of abreviations and texting languige so i did not know people were going to be bothered by my lack of spelling words correctly

if i have a fire pet will it burn down my ship

do larger ships come with dingys to get to the ship so it dose not run aground or get beached

do you have to pay docking fees

do ships come with sails or oars or are they sold sepratly
i have seen a dolfin in a river by town are their aquatic pets i can get with a ship

I was not bothered by your spelling at all. Thought it'd be helpful typing it in right though.

You can get mining tools like shovels from a miner I believe. There is one under tele Malas, Mook Town.

As for saws I had trouble finding them too, I just spend the cash and buy them from other players. If you don't want to do that maybe you should try your hand at tinkering and make one, like Cygnus said.

No renting.
You can buy ships from the shipright NPC's at most docks; there is one straight south of Britain bank. They have storage on the boat but I do not think it can be secured, but once you leave a boat it should secure itself and only the person that has the key can unlock it. Boats won't sink and they can't be burned down, though they will decay overtime if not accessed. It is far better to shrink the boat when done with it, though the boat and cargo hold must be empty to shrink.

If a person wants to steal your ship, then they are most desperate and in worst shape than you are. And I would highly recommend buying a small house that has locking and security features as oppose communing with nature on a boat that has none of those features.

You can also build your own ship using Grade A logs that are gotten when lumberjacking with a Sturdy Axe.

Sea monsters could randomly attack attack you but only in fel and they are few and far between. No pirates to worry about. and no docking fees. If you are fishing in deep water, you have a chance to summon a sea monster no matter where you are at.

I have only seen one burning boat since I have been here and it has been burning for over 5 years now. There is nothing to worry about pets or anything else destroying your boat. The only thing would be from lack of use.

I had a boat sink while I was actively fishing on it a couple months back... Didn't think it was possible, and the boat was several weeks old, but it sank right out from under me and left me standing on the ocean...

Bizarre and probably difficult to repeat, but it did happen, so if you leave stuff in the hold on the boat for long enough, even if you are on it, be prepared to possibly lose it all eventually...

I am pretty sure that you have to dock your boat every so often or it will sink. Not sure on the timeline though.

You can get ingots and tools by using Excelsior Exchange (exex for short) - in game "commodity exchange" of sorts. Just type in [exex. There is a little question mark (as in most gumps) in the top left corner with a bit of an explanation of how it works and what you need to do to trade in it.

The pickaxe can be bought from miner NPCs - there's one in Britain (edge of town, north of LB castle) and in Minoc (somewhere around the mines. Probably more out there, but I can recall those off the top of my head. Carpentry tools are not sold by any NPC (a little oversight) - you need to craft your own or buy off exex or player vendors.

A boat will decay in about a week - you can hover your mouse over the tillerman (steering guy) to see a descriptive state of the boat's current state of decay. Like others suggested - pack it between uses. Also - have means to recall (either via magery or chivalry) when you use boats, travel or explore. You can and most likely *will* get lost - recalling back to a safe spot can save you a lot of trouble.

i did find a place to buy tools from and the ones i could not find i can now make so that problem is setled
although i accepted a bulk order quest from the carpenters in britan and i filled the order and returned to the carpenters and cant accept the reward for doing the quest thought it was just a flook so i loged off and logged back on the problem remained so i tried to go to another carpenters place in several other towns and still could not accept the reward waited several hours and the problem still remained so i got another order and filled it and the same thing happened is the bulk order for carprnting not turned in at a carpenters, is it a bug or some kind of error on my part

ok now i have a few new questions about the ships

how much cargo room do they have about the same as the bank or more and dose it vary from ship size
is a ships cargo the same as a packlama/packhorse's inventory or is it a enterable area of the ship or just a box on the ship

if a tillerman (steering guy) dose not come with the ship could you simply do the job yourself
if you build a ship will tillerman be there if he dose not come with the ship

how dose the decay of ships work do you have to just be on them or use them for a period of time to stop the decay or is the decay there and eventualy the ship will expire and a new one is required

if you have a ship how dose docking the ship work are ships aloud to stay in one spot or is it required that they be moved every so often

Hey Scorch,

I can try to answer your BOD question.

When you turned them in did you open the bulk order deed and try to click claim reward? For some reason it doesn't let me do that. What I do is walk up to the carpenter and drop the bulk order deed on the NPC, that usually works. If you tried doing that and it is not working try to get closer and try again.

As for ships I don't know much about them. I bought one for my fishing but docked it when it started decaying and haven't opened it back up since.

Anyway good luck with turning in your bulk orders and I hope that helped.
