Hi All

I'm new here and it has been a while since i played UO the last time... so i have a few questions:

I love to play melee fighters, i know that tamer would be the best way to start... but i just fighting monsters directly too much to do anything else

- What would be a good choice of weapon ? I remeber that Lumberjacking gave a Bonus to Axes... but Axes where not that good... however... what kind of weapons are good to level up ?
- is there something like a noob-shop where i can get cheap gear for startup ?
- anything i should do as a fresh fighter ? maybe something i should not do ?
- does playing a fighter make any sense on a no-skill-cap shard ? or is it just a waste of time compared to a full-mage-tamer-bard-archer-p3wp3w-build ?

Marv, you can pick up free equipment in the Young Player gate. If your standing at Town Center, theres two blue gates next to eachother that people put equipment in the chest for young players. the gate is the western one of the two. Also, if you stand on any of the red teleporters, click on Custom, and go to the Training Room, there are green training dirks on the tables, and you can train any skill you want to up to 75.0 in that room.

I myself have a lot of fun doing melee as well, but it always does help it seems to have one tamed animal to help you out. I usually go with just myself, and my mule and we do pretty decent.

And yes, no skill cap, so you can do whatever you want, im still new myself, and starting with the pet combo, but I hope to do without it someday, but you need something to save up enough money to get all the awesome weapons and armor, as it is possible to get over 600hp in this server, and with 120 healing, and (i think 150 dex, might be 200) you can have a 1 second heal timer on your bandies, so you can stay alive pretty well.

There ya have it, ive exhausted all of my knowledge at this point =] Happy Hunting

It's actually 220 dex and the timer is 0,4s per band (or so).

Just a simple reminder - some monsters (especially ones that drop decent gold) have been buffed to keep up with no skill/levellable weapons player power. Just because you could kill mob A on OSI doesn't mean you will be able to do so here.

My 2 cents: melee is for people with good gear. Expect to die *a lot* if you don't have the gear and the skill for it.
