I have no idea if it is possible, or how much it can be hard or easy.

Masonry (making chair, statues is based on carpentry skill. but why couldn't it be based on a own skill. a skill called Masonry. Unlocked only once carpentry is at 100.0 and book read. And increase like the others craft skills by making items with the granites system. And why not using this skill to learn to create houses deed like small house, until tower, castle, ....

What do you think about this?

its possible but, looking at the sourcecode, it would be way too much effort to change it all, to something that doesnt add anything new but a new name on the skill-list, and a goldsink for granite.

that said: on other shards ive seen housing as a carpentry, so that seperately could be done with a lot less effort.

I'd say it's too much work and not enough "zang".
There already is the mallet and chisel tool, which requires that you have read the stonecrafting book, aka, a masonry manual
