Seems a common trend with WIN 10 upgrade and older games. From what I've seen seems most people are having to remove and reinstall stuff cause the registry entries not being properly dealt with.

I don't know if this will work for win 10 but the techs at dell showed me this and it works every time I get the out of memory message. even now I get it but I don't have to change it now. I do go thru the steps and its all better until the next time lol.
search 'virtual memory' - open system - pick advanced system settings - pick performance settings - pick advanced - go to virtual memory 'change' - pick custom size - initial size mb 2048 - maximum size mb 4096 - then set and ok. then just ok your way out. hope this puts the memory problem to bed once and for all.
be glad to hear back if this works for anyone it6s done wonders for my stress lvls

Increasing virtual memory doesn't help with UOS out of memory message. I am on windows 10 and i'm able to launch UOS without any problem after I disabled all the background running apps.

Look in the help section of the forums, there is a post that I did on virtual memory errors and someone post in there a program called Large Address Aware. Run that on all of the programs you use for UO and it should fix the error.

I also just upgraded to Windows 10, and had the out of memory issue.
Using the large address aware tool didn't help at all. In fact, it made it worse, as it turned the executable into something that the host Windows kernel couldn't execute. Looking at the website for that tool, I'm dubious about it. It doesn't seem to have any active development and a modest google search turns up a lot of technical problems with no answers.
What fixed UO on Windows 10 for me was simply removing things on startup. That permitted Razor and UO to grab the lowest segments of memory. In particular, Steam was a big culprit: I had to disable Steam on startup via Steam's settings menu.

Well my daughter just upgraded her machine to Win 10 and was getting the Virtual memory error and when I ran the Large Address Aware on all of the programs for UO (the client, Razor and Steam) it worked fine. So I don't know what to tell you.

I'm on Win7, and i get this error occasionally. Usually closing down all non-essential programs (email program, chrome & firefox, especially those logitech updaters and so on) usually does the trick. Sometimes it doesn't, and I have to restart, close programs again right after the restart, and then run it. So far that 2nd approach always worked.
Worse case scenario, you can install an OS virtualization software, I use
https://www.virtualbox.org/
Then install an earlier version of Windows (XP, Vista, 7) on it, and that might do the trick. Boy time sure does fly, we'll soon have to run this game in an emulator!
Though I think, using some sort of compatibility tool should make a simpler solution.
I plan on upgrading to a new computer with Win10 in the fall, so I'll be able to experiment with it then.

The main problem is that the client wants a certain part of the memory to start in, and if that is occupied then it wont start.
Cleaning up your startup helps, also trying to make sure you start it before other things have started, or not trying to start the client while other things are loading in the background.
Especially the latter I found. Damn Skype.

The ones I usually have to end task are:
Google crash handler and crash reporter
Adobe updater
steam
Team Viewer
Close all browsers
Once the game is open, then I can open steam again, or any other internet based program
I have had to do that since I was on Windows 7. I am on 10 now.
I am seriously thinking of trying a win 7 virtual machine to see how that works out.

On my intel dual core laptop with 4gb of RAM Win7, I can launch the game using UOsteam when Firefox or Chrome is open. I don't use Virtual memory either.

Go here :
http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threa ... re.112556/
Download
Large Address Aware.
Run said executable, then in the step one box, path it to your UO folder and select "
client.exe". In step 2 select the box and hit save. You will never have a virtual memory problem again. UO and UOSteam don't have the ability to recognize more than 2 gigs of memory on your machine, this program will modify the registry and make all of your PC's memory available to them. No more closing your browser before you open the program or any of these ridiculous fixes I keep seeing people do.... "Maybe if I stand on my desk with one leg and double click with my big toe and close EVERYTHING running..."
Credit where credit's due :
Desmond is the one that originally pointed me in the direction of this fix, just paying it forward

what if you only have 1 gig of ram and still get the oom error with uo steam even with all programs and non-essential processes closed? LAA wont work for computers under 4 gigs of ram so.. i have no clue how to fix this.
