We need more of you old guys to help add stuff to the wiki now :)

I've been trying to add a few things here and a few things there, though I'm rather new to the shard and I know far from everything, Thus it would be nice if more people could add what they know

Thanks in advance

Indeed. www.uoex.net/wiki
It will replace the guides after we put some more stuff on it. Everyone's welcome to add :)

Could we have a 'Wiki' tab at the top of the portal page?

Can we get an official stamp on confirmed info so that it adds a little credibility to it? Maybe a small 20x20 image or just a tag line. Maybe locking in a certain section of an individual wiki page with the approved info and then a section below it for players to add stuff.

Hopefully that'll keep the BS down to a minimum.

Well one idea was that i'd make a special forum group and only the users from that group would be able to edit it... At the time i thought it would restrict too much, but maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea.

As for the stamp... we could lock certain pages with official info.

Does the wiki coding allow for locking certain sections of pages? That way people could contribute additional information but not be able to change locked in stuff.

From what i see we can only lock a whole page, but then i suppose there's the "talk" page where people can submit proposals for changes. But i'd only lock pages that won't ever need to be edited by non-staff. For example, champion spawn page could be:
Champion Spawns
and
Champion Spawns (unofficial)

The official page (locked) would have a link to the unofficial one. Not all pages need an official and unofficial version, just a few.

Well i think i'll make the forum group after all. Going to add multiple "group admins" so that i dont have to add anyone individually by myself.

Why not just open it up completely? Link the wiki user database with the forum's. The whole point of having a wiki is it being editable by everyone. If I see a mistake or bad layout, and I have to propose a change rather than doing it immediately, I will not do it. Maybe that's just me, but why change it to a wiki when you're going to mostly lock it. You're using MediaWiki, which to my knowledge has a built in version system. If someone goes apeshit, just ban the user and revert the changes. You could even appoint some moderators based on people who have contributed and proven their worth.

He just said very little would be locked.

Yep. . for example, there would be the official newbie guide (locked), and it would contain the link to the unofficial new player guide.

Must have missed it.

Can the userbase still be linked between the wiki and forum? I just tried to login on the wiki and it doesn't recognize my username and password.

Yes it is linked. You must have entered the info wrong.

Still doesn't work, this is what I do:
  1. I click on Log in at the Main_Page at the top right corner.
  2. I enter my username and password, same as the forum.
  3. I get:

    Code: Select all

Login error: You have not specified a valid user name.
