General Stat Information
Each of the three stats will affect various attributes of your character:
Total Stats Cap
A New Player will have a total stat cap of 300 for all three stats combined.
A Player can use a +Maximum Stat Scroll ranging from +5 to +50. +Maximum Stat Scrolls Do Not Stack!
An individual stat may not go higher than 125 unless you buy a +5 individual stat scroll. You must however buy a +maximum stat scroll in order to raise your overall stats in order for these individual stat scrolls to go into effect.
If a player used a +5, raising their total stat cap to 305, and then used a +10, it would only raise to 310.
- +Maximum Stat Scrolls of any intensity are dropped by the Harrower.
- +50 Maximum Stat Scrolls can be bought for 500ED.
- The Highest your Total Stat Cap can be is 350.
Individual Stat Cap
A New Player will have an individual stat cap of 125 for any particular stat.
A Player can use a +5 Individual Stat Cap Scroll, and these scrolls Do Stack!
- +5 Individual Stat Scrolls Cost 50ED, and it will only raise the cap of One stat of your choosing by +5.
- The Highest your Individual Stat Cap can be for any particular stat is 150
NOTE: Increasing the Strength cap from 125 to 150 will net you 12.5 HP (and UO doesn't round up, so its 12 HP really). There are two formulas for calculating the HP gained from your Strength.
HP from gear = Str * 1.5, so an SoT with 20 Str = 30 HP.
HP from your base stats = (Strength/2) + 50. 60 Str = 80 HP, 80 Str = 90. AFTER 100 STR, EVERY 2 POINTS OF STR = 1 HP.
The 250 ED spent to boost the Strength Cap to 150 may be better off spent towards a relayer instead, as you will gain more HP and other stats from the relayer, as opposed to 12 HP from boosting your cap.
ED[Excelsior Dollars] are spent in Trinsic at the ED stone.
(Notes for clarification: The total of your individual stats cannot exceed your Total Stats Cap!
Scenario:
- You have 125 str, 125 dex, and 50 int (or some combo of 300)
- You buy 5 +5 Individual stat scrolls
- You add them to Dex to raise your dex cap to 150
- You cannot gain 150 Dex unless you lower str and/or int accordingly OR unless you already used a max stats PS that was 325 total stats or higher.
So, be careful! It is highly recommended that you raise your total stats FIRST with a max stats Power Scroll before you begin juggling the numbers of your stats.
- Many of us make do with a +45 max stats scroll. If you cannot get in on the Harrower or cannot buy a +50 scroll from someone who does the Harrower regularly because 400-500 EDs is out of your budget range, you can do well with a +45 which is much, much cheaper.
Once you have used a max stats increase scroll, and start using individual stat scrolls, you can begin juggling your stats around till they come out how you wish. If your stats are currently at the full level of your max stats potential, you need to set one stat to lower in order to increase the stat you currently wish to raise.
- Essences of Str, Int, or Dex will not work if your stats are at max cap. You will have to lower one stat in order to raise another.
Again, be careful! Once you have raised your desired stat (str or dex usually) the amount of the +5 stat scroll(s), lock your int (usually the lowered stat), or it will continue to lower at stat gain checks even if you can no longer gain the other capped stat in an equal exchange.
In other words, NEVER leave stats with the arrow pointing down without careful monitoring of your stat progress. --Viola 14:35, 11 March 2012 (CDT))
Raising Stats
There are three ways to raise your stats:
1. Using Skills
2. Using an Essence of Dexterity, Intelligence, or Strength
3. Using Items
Using Skills
Stats are slow to raise through training/using skills, gaining 1 point about every 15 minutes. Each skill has a primary and secondary stat.
The stat that you will gain in will be of either the primary or secondary stat of the skill you are using.
Using Essences
These are gotten through buying from other players or random monster loot in Felucca.
To Be able to use an Essence of a particular stat there are a few requirements:
- You must not be at your Total Stat Cap
- You must not be at your individual Stat Cap for the Essence type you are using.
One Essence will increase the corresponding Stat by 1. Raising Dex by 20 would require 20 Essences of Dexterity.
Using Items
There are many items that can boost your stats. Any Item that boosts stats will not be affected by total stat cap or individual stat cap.
The easiest item to procure as a new player for a boost in any stat is crafted jewelry. Player crafted jewelry has a max intensity of +8 on stat boosts.
More Advanced Players will be interested in getting:
- +Dex Gear
- Leveled Weapons and Relayers
- Mage Armor
- This doesn't technically boost any particular stat but it does provide a nice boost to spell casting related attributes.
