This looks pretty nice.
However, there's something I have noticed about containers in general:
When you drag an item into the container by dropping it onto the icon of the container, rather than into the gump itself, it is possible to bypass the normal restrictions that the gump has on where items can be placed.

It's easiest to test with a very stingy container like the elven Decorative Box, which has a huge portion of the lower and right edges unusable if you try and place an item inside the normal way.
Place a bunch of separate items into the box by dragging them onto the box icon itself. The items will go inside the box and settle in a random spot. It should not take long before you notice that some are landing in the lower and right edges, where you could not place them manually.

What I want to know is, with your new space-efficient bag gumps, will items placed in the containers with the above method land out of sight?

The screenshots below illustrate what I mean.
  • Panel 1 - The normal limitations of the Decorative Box
Panel 2 - Drag the items onto the icon, not the gump
Panel 3 - Previously inaccessible spots are now usable

So long as the outline has enough room to maintain that ability it would be rather nice to be able to see what is IN the bag, specifically, black items.

I like what you are doing to the gumps and hope to see this available soon.

What I would love to see is something similar to the 3D client, where there's a grid in containers that items 'Lock' to, allowing you to select those tiny items by clicking on the tile its on and often preventing items from being covered up by others.

Lookin' pretty good mate.

That's one of UO's coolest mini-games: "Find That Tiny Item In Your Pack". That UI is looking pretty nice too!
