12/11 Event: The Battle of Thermopylae (300)

Post by +Veritas »

Title: The Battle of Thermopylae (300)
When: December 11th @ either 10:30 pm EST (4:30:00 Shard Time)
Class: Level 3 - 4 challenge level, due to range of monster difficulty and provided gear
[Guidelines: http://uoex.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=14901#p14901 ]

What to expect:
1.) Monsters of varying difficulty and number.
2.) Armor and weapons will be provided to all players, which will fit the overall theme of the event and will max out all areas of combat necessary for the event.
3.) All player gear must be left at home with the exception of the following: Bags of holding, Bags of sending, Bandages, Spellbooks, Runebooks, and Resource Keys. You are still responsible for blessing or insuring these items if you insist on bringing them.
NOTE: Each player will be inspected prior to entry into the event. Having additional gear for stats will definitely not be necessary, considering the gear that will be provided. Bringing such additional gear will only place it in danger of being lost during the event. If additional gear is purposefully smuggled into the event and you are caught, you will be immediately removed from the event and will not receive the reward.

Duration: 30-60 Minutes

Rules:
1.) No pets, No mounts, No summons. This means your followers number should equal 0, and you should not be riding on a charger. This also includes mirror images.
2.) The following spells are not allowed: Enchanted Grove, Volcanic Eruption, Stone Circle. All resurrection spells, teleport, and gate travel spells will also be disabled. The only means of resurrection in this event will be with bandages.

Resources: 1 gold corpse stones, Multiple pieces of gear that fit the theme of the event.

Tips:
1.) Before leaving for the event make sure you have all items insured or blessed, put all items that you don't have insured or blessed (and that you don’t want lost) in your bank or left at home, and that you have at least 50,000 raw gold (not in bank check) in your bank for insurance payments upon death. I am not responsible for items lost off your character due to lack of insurance payment or monsters looting your corpse (eg: Lich).
2.) Come into the event with the assumption that you will die 20 times. That way, you will be pleasantly surprised that you only died 15 times. Complaining that you keep dying in an event that is suppose to be a new and challenging experience, and that is a change from typical dungeon exploration just frustrates me and others in the event. I monitor the event from within the event, and I have reduced the spawners as well as the properties of specific monsters currently being fought if they are too much to handle for the current hunting party, so keep that in mind. If you are still upset over your luck in the event, I suggest staying dead until the area is cleared by other players, walk in death form to a clear area and get resurrected, or you may leave the event entirely and save yourself from the frustration.
3.) Lag happens, inside and outside the event for some players. Since the installation of the router, I have seen a huge improvement in the lag within the shard, and this is the testimony of most players as well. However, I cannot predict how each player will do with the lag during the event, so I will announce when the event will start. During this time I suggest all non-participants to stay in an area that is safe until it is seen that the lag is playable. Events don’t happen all of the time, so it is a small thing to ask those who are experiencing bad lag to take an hour break from the game and come back when the event lag is gone.

Important: If the lag is shard-wide and makes the game unplayable for all players, I will do my best to quickly stop the event. However, understand that if the whole shard lags, I will lag as well. So, my fixing the situation may take longer than usual.

Well, stupid question but just want to make sure. I see some spells are listed as not being allowed, but spellbooks themselves are not in the list of items allowed at all. Are we allowed to bring any spellbooks (chivalry, magery, bushido, ninjutsu) or no?

Can't wait :)....well...i can wait..but you know what i mean. always love the "lets kill stuff" events, and making everyone on an equal playing field (gear wise) just makes it all the more fun.

Thanks +V ^_-

yea, fiacha should be right, checks should be able to cover the cost of insurance, though do we really need any since were kinda going naked and your prviding the "everything" for us..? i mean most of everything should be already blessed as of book wise i though though the bag of sending isnt, i admit. Ohh, will we be needing bag of sending? like is there special things that we need to be gathering? much like santas suit? need to know so i dont bring it and waste it or risk loss of it, thank you +V :)

Specifics: Gear and weapons will be provided. Most items are not to be brought, but I would bring at least the following: Bandages, Bag of Sending, Bag of Holding (If haz), Spellcasters Keys.

The objective will be to fight your way to Xerxes, the God King, and kill him. This will be possible by killing your way to the various army commanders on the landed boats. Killing these guys will stop the dispatching of soldiers in that area.

Warning: You will not be able to use resurrection spells, but you can use bandages. This is a minor discomfort since you will have a considerably higher amount of hit points and stat increases.
