Candle count!!
Have you ever went to a champ and it just hit 8 candles? You know what that means, you gotta wait for others to vote you in.I have been to many champ spawn where only 2-3 people are doing the champ spawn and get declined or not approved up to 6 times in a row.So your telling me these 2-3 people got time to decline me 6 times and cant finish the spawn fast enough can endless decline me?And would not affect the outcome of them getting a scroll.
Or people will not approve your cause of the guild your are in.Or they feel like they did all the work?Lets face it 2 people with trees and sometimes 1 person can get it to 8 candles, but that is not the main work load.
I suggest either extend the vote thing to 10 candles.Or check how many people are doing the champ and auto add people up to 6 players.Lets face it,some players just wanna be a donkey and not add ya.Has nothing to do with the outcome of who gets a scroll.
I can understand if there are 20 people, but anything less than 10 is just showing how rude you are.If i gotta wait for the timer to click i wanna join and do it 6 times and you decline me still, what does that say?

Re: Candle count!!
It has simple reason:
http://www.uoex.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=13799
read Server version 37.13 - 10-04-30 for change of double scrolls.
So difficult part is not doing champ, it is finding active champ. 2 druids are enough for most of the champs so why are they allow other peoples while they are reached 9 candle?
not take it selfishness, if you see people doing a champ just record your time and add +6 hours then come back for that champ, also i didn't understand people pushing so hard for this.

Re: Candle count!!
i think it should check how many players are actively at the spawn. so less than 6 no voting is necessary.
Re: Candle count!!
I say the current system works. Look some people are just going to cry no matter what system is in place, heck I bet if they changed the system where all you had to do was touch the alter once and you got a ps someone would be complaining why can't they get 2 scrolls.
If you are getting voted no, perhaps your behavior has warranted it? If you are in a guild that gets an instant no vote from others, maybe time to change guilds?

Re: Candle count!!
Honestly i only think that this should be looked at for the novice champs. The regular champs are fine if people want to 2 man it let em so be it.
Re: Candle count!!
For the Newbie Spawn, it might be nice to see the candle-count increased from like 6 to 12. I've only ran one Newb Champ Spawn so far, and that one I was the first one there and kinda just stumbled on it, and the other time I got there the Burnt Ones were already spawning so I didn't feel bad getting turned down; right at the end there, that's totally fine. But I did notice that getting from 1 candle to 12 is waaaaay easier than 13 to the end. Allowing people to join for free would allow us new guys more of a window to get over there, which is probably a good thing.
There was someone irritated earlier this morning about how someone asked for help at a spawn and then, when the guy who responded got there not too long after the cry, he was turned down. That's frustrating, but I also think it's a lesser irritation than someone coming up and stealing all of your work, or trying to get the reward without as much of the work.

Re: Candle count!!
They've already changed the gold to be automatically split, so nobody is left without.
They changed oaks to be 3 different spawns where only one drops the skull, so more people have
chance to get it.
They changed it so that skull drops automatically in your backpack, so there wont be
fighting over who deserves it.
They changed the PS dropping system from total 6 to all participants into 1-2 to each, so people
wouldn't just solo the champs.
They increased the hit points on champs so they wouldn't die so fast and everybody had a
good chance of getting that PS.
They changed it so that you can't cast stone circle around the champ, leaving pets outside.
They = +Coli btw, don't know if anyone else has done coding for the champs.
Can't we just be happy with the current system? It's working good. Give the man some kudos
for a change.
Oh, and as for those 2-3 people at the champ, they haven't just been casting druid spells
for the last 2 minutes, they have probably been checking the champ for the last hour or so.

Even though change has been made that's no reason to be stagnant in the future, you make changes because there's a problem or a new way is more convenient and right now there's a problem.Penny wrote:They've already changed the gold to be automatically split, so nobody is left without.

1. A lot of gamers are being selfish at novice champs and it's frustrating people. Frustrated people are full of animosity. Animosity is often exerted in passive aggressive ways.
Why not stop the problem before it gets too far? Simply allowing up to 6 gamers on a >> Novice << Champ without giving others the option to vote isn't a big deal. Keep in mind i'm talking about the Novice Champion and i believe most others are as well.
The Champion in which is meant for new gamers that should promote community. There's no reason for someone to 1-3 man this champ what so ever. Let the newer gamers get in and have some fun.
2. You noted gold was split evenly, i'm not sure when this script was put in for the novice champ however it doesn't appear to work that way as of 2/6/2011
Why not make a change to the way gold is distributed? Placing a check in the bags of new gamers for completing the boss would be a nice way to handle gold. There would never be a single gm page about gold not being split. A lot less headaches in the end.
Honestly change is always good, never become stagnant ever that's real bad.
Granted the changes that were made i feel are awesome and kudos for the effort and work that was put in. However more change is yet needed to promote community and team play. The more gamers want to play with each other the more friendly and the healthier your server will be which will also bring in more like minded gamers.
Re: Candle count!!
Change isn't always good.
Ok, let's turn the 8 candle rule to 10 candle rule. Then 12 candle rule. Then no voting at all.
Then people will complain about having to solo a champ just to have a dozen "ninjas" appearing
just before the champ pops out. 90% of the gold goes to people who didn't do anything at the
champ.
And you are just as likely to be late to 10 candles as 8 candles if you are just randomly checking
the champs.
The candle rule is there for a reason, and it is just fine as it is. I get rejected at champs, but
then I go look for another one.
I'm not talking about the newbie champ - nor was the original post - to which I was replying.
If you want to do a champ, do as everyone else does: Follow the champ times and check them
regularly.

Re: Candle count!!
I dont see a problem with this on the non novice champs at all. I've just seen a lot of griping about the novice champ lately.Penny wrote:Change isn't always good.

It was early when i read this post however when i read this thread it wasn't very clear to me which champ the op was talking about. i'll re-read this post though.

After reviewing what penny said i have to disagree with you((TheOldMule)) here, the people in the champ spent a lot of time scouting the spawns that you didn't. Record the time and make sure you're there 4 hours later when the spawn comes back. Granted this really sucks but that's how EA designed this game or how it was intended to play out.
As for your guild tag, if someone declines you because of your guild then you or your guild and or someone inside your guild has done something to smite whoever is doing the champ spawn. Maybe you shouldn't affiliate yourself with gamers who are unkind in their ways and you'll be shown more mercy.
Either way my support for champ spawn changes is only for the novice champ since it's the only one most young players can do without a lot of time spent here. Granted i'm not your typical gamer as i've passed the novice stages a long time ago. some novices last a lot longer than a week and excess of a month in some cases as they can't play much more than casual. keep your fellow casuals in mind

To Penny: I always support change, the only type of people who don't are the ones who are stuck in their ways and don't want to move forward in anything they do. Sometimes change isn't needed and sometimes it is but i support it when the ideas are positive in every case. Being Stagnant in game, in life, and in aspects of anything is a bad.

Seeing things as black and white is bad. Looking at the big picture reveals a million shades of grey.Nakkasu wrote:Being Stagnant in game, in life, and in aspects of anything is a bad.
Now, as for the newbie champ, new players rarely have druid spells which would make the champ go fast. So
by the time it gets to 8 candles, some effort has already gone into it. But if you come to the newbie champ
and it's locked, talk to the people. I have been let into plenty of champs at late stage, just told them that
I'd let them keep the gold and just wanted a PS. Talk and get to know people, buddies are always welcome
to champs.

This is change and like i said change is what i like, at this point you're just looking for reasons to disagree with me when we're both on the same page.
