Merge Weapons Idea

Merge Weapons Idea

Just throwing out this idea. What if you could buy a merge weapon deed for unspecified ED that allows you to merge 2 weapons together.

Take the highest stats from both weapons and turn it into a third weapon. You could add a "merged" tag to the weapon so that it won't allow you to merge it a third time.

This could allow us to make some pretty beefy weapons, and be a huge gold dump.

so you could merge a captain jack sparrows cutless with a yumi and have the DMG of the cutless with the range and Arrmor pierce of a yuimi, sound good but it should be like 600 eddys or more to serve as a real gold dump.

Uhh, yeah, right. Merge, re-layer and you have people with mind-boggling power complaining that there are no challenging things to do. Sure, go riiiight ahead.

I'm really really against that idea! We already have relayer that give our characters a HUGE boost... Over powered guys like Anarchy & cie (wich i have nothing against) are already too strong for the monsters we have here. Lot of messages are posted every month to have tougher monsters implemented. And your only idea is to boost further more our characters?

There is plenty of ways to make gold sink other then beefing up players... I agree, it might be really powerful and fun to have *merge weapons*! But I don't think it's a good idea...

So disallow turning a merged weapon into a relayer. Stats are capped pretty well on weapons, this wouldn't increase someones invulnerability over the top.

If someone merges a 8 str 8 dex 8 int 8hp.... with another 8 str 8 dex 8 int 8 hp...the new weapon would take the higher of the 2 weapons and still only have 8 str 8 dex 8 int 8 hp.

I guess I just thought it would be a fun idea to have some crazy over the top weapons, but I didn't think about how many are complaining the shard is too easy...

Merged weapons would would easily overpower anything else available, thus they would become a new standard. Imagine a Titan's hammer merged with a blaze of death and 100 in all three drains. It would overbalance the shard. when contemplating additions, you must ask "is anything else comparable?"
If not, you may be adding to power level rather than extra function.

Even a change as simple as allowing people to gain spending points on a weapon by lowering attributes thus "recycling" points from unneeded stats would alter power levels by allowing people to re-spec a single weapon or suit into whatever is needed at the time.

Let's have a theoretical look at the math. Get 2 well crafted 4x48s (or something relatively close) - while not common, these are quite possible to find/craft, given enough perseverance. Merge. Look at stats:
35 Damage Increase
48 hit lightning
48 hit fireball
48 hit cold are
48 hit fire area
48 hit lower defence
48 hit mana leech
48 hit stamina leech
+ 1x 48 of your choice.

Does that look overpowered? Because to me it does.

Doesn't look that overpowered to me, you might be able to one-shot a lich with that :).

I fancy the idea of having a weapon with all the magic hits and all the area hits, but then I'd be a UO god and UO gods don't go hunting creeps.

Maybe if you couldn't either level the merged weapon or merge lvled weapons it wouldn't be so powerful.

So basically you are saying that this is a bad idea? :D Then what is the point of the merge weapons idea? Cause I am not thinking of merging a dagger with a butcher knife.

In another note... if I could merge two titans and/or crushers that will be sweet.... what it was a 15 STR boost is now 30 STR boost then add a relayer deed on it **drooling** hence, I don't think this is a good idea cause like every body said....this is way tooooo over powered.
Now offering free tours to Sgail and Umbris camp, bring your own weapons as safety is not guaranteed.

Well as a End game super expensive deed Id say it would be a good idea. don't allow ether weapon to have a level deed on it at time of merger but let the final product be leveled. And in the end game HML and HLL arnt that uber important on a weapon, Im no where near end game but i regen mana at 5.5 persec and with 200 mana only place i "NEED"a HML weapon is umbris camp. Instant heal makes HLL irrelevant unless your fighting things with mortal strike but then....IDK i beak of the fight and wait the 3 sec or whatever it is for mortal strike to wear off. I think the coolest thing about merging would be
1. merge a 4 x 58 with a captains jack sparrows cutlass. the 34 base damage would give you really impresive one shot kill capabilities and probably raise a yumi per shot DMG by 40% or so.
2. merge a titans and a taskmaster into a halbert, then level adding just Hit areas thing would be increadable for killing masses of anything.
3. makeing that perfect combination you can never find in the wild of two 3 x 58 weapons so your permiment weapon has all three spell hits HLD and all three leaches.

as a end game item I think this is a good Idea, yes it would be powerful, but so are 14 relayers. if we can make such a massive improvement to our gear why is there so little that can be done to improve our permiment weapon? make it 1000 eddys. make it 15000 eddys. make it so its account bound and you can only get one per account, I like the Idea. and that is my vote. not that this is a Democratic club or anything or anything. and after the top vets have 14 relayers (some now merged weps before relayer) AND a 27x48 wep that one shots almost anything in umbris camp, people will be complaining that there are no challenges left, and making money will get easier and faster, creating more inflation, and it'll spiral.
I gotta call this one OP, (and as my D&D group can tell you, I'm a powergaming cheesehead) but then as was pointed out...

Agree there is not party for nothing here... relayer players can solo a champ, or maybe have another friend with relayers... (wich i have nothing against)... theres alot of owerpower monsters, give more power to the players it not a good idea for my point of view...
