Their are lots of us that use chat logger scripts. So knowing the question that was asked is not something they can rely on. I wouldn't worry to much about 1 incident, things happen. Just don't become a repeat offender.

One thing I will say about saying failed afk check due to bad lag is this. Was your character killiing things when you were checked or gathering resources? Because if you had bad lag while killing, Then you are most likely lying. If you are lagging that bad, you character will most likely be dead in a short period of time. Due to the inability to cast anything or use the [bandself which all use the same chat system to use as responding. But if you were gathering resources there could be something there..But I don't know I buy most of my resources i need.

I dunno, but taking it to the forums is always the wrong choice.

I agree :nod:

I was placed in jail once for failing a afk check. I was doing nothing just standing there with my pets at a spawn, so I was moved to jail. I mean wasn't a big deal... just accept the things that you cannot change and be happy. Just like when lag hit you while you were doing whatever it is you were doing. Honestly, if it was me in your situation I would be happy cause then, this will show the afkers that staff really mean to punish the ones that are breaking the rules.

whats funny is i purposely go angel form and stand next to people using theses macros and talk to them and i can recall a couple good 10 min conversations i had with my self as the character just spammed divine fury and consecrate. i didn't come here to accuse or name names but i think maybe you should just should just not use the macro point is as follows:

the rules are not going to change for an abnormality if you can not accept the punishment for what may happen because of an abnormality you should not put yourself into a position where it may occur.

example;
using an infamous macro that is known to be used by afk levelers and resource gatherers

and yes everyone know macros aren't illegal you got punished for being afk not for using the macro i use the same one (again not pointing fingers or saying it was right or wrong as i don't know or care about the specifics of this incident)

PLEASE take my points in a general and not personal please. :D you know i love you all :D

This would be a fine case to demonstrate that people who argue AFKing should be banned at first offence are so very wrong. While I have have my doubts whether this has happened exactly the way it was described, it is pretty likely. The lag spikes have been increasingly popular lately.

I don't think anyone should be banned on a first offense, but at the same time, i think people use whatever excuse is available to avoid punishment. In real life, and on the game. Its never someone's fault they were caught, it was lag, or wife, or kid, or dog, or hamster, or weather, or ... whatever.

I'm not saying this is the case in this situation, but i would dare to say most* people would lie to get out of trouble given the chance. Unfortunately on the internet, its a lot easier, since there isn't any real "evidence", other than maybe logs... so to speak of that can be used to prove or disprove excuses, which is why escalating penalties are good.

Everyone deserves a warning, and maybe a light punishment before a harsh punishment. but if you get afk checked at the exact moment you get lagged really bad, multiple times... something is going on.

how long do you have to respond to an afk check?

it's like what devlin said if you were hunting you'd be dead. if you were crafting or resource gathering meh maybe. i agree with what Asmodean said; that it's not the first offense we're really concerned with it's the 3rd and 4th offense. there are ways to protect yourself from the checks. first if your really laggy take a screen shot. it proves you were at your computer long enough to take one, and then you say i was laggy. 2nd if your really laggy...don't run macros.
