Hey all, I'm aware there is a guide for this. . . I followed it more then once and for some reason I just can't get UOAM to work on my computer . It will start then a menu comes up saying that " Ultima Online's premier mapping tool. has stopped working "
Would really like to start hunting in Felucca but not having UOAM makes this somewhat difficult to get anything really done, would appreciate some help.
I've also made sure that the compatibility box is checked for Windows XP SP2.

Are you running either UO assist or Razor when you are trying to run Automap? It is dependent on one of those to get the information. Also try to use the run as administrator check box under Compatibility tab.
I'm using Razor, and I tried checking the administrator box after reading your reply but still no go, same window. I also ended up tying both links that they have on wiki for the program, and sadly to say it gave me the same window again. .
I have been having this same issue for several weeks and just managed to get back into UOAM. this isn't a fix yet but it will allow the program to load, when you double click the uoam icon and the info screen with the download comes up, hit the enter key right when that comes up and it will cancel the uoam.net download and will drop you into the map program, I am not sure how to get it to stop trying the download and crashing the program but at least by canceling the download you can get it to work. hope this helps you out some
Can you tell me what version of UOAM you are using ...
you should be using 8.2.0.1 the 8.3 version has several bugs and issues that don't work correctly here on this shard .
also have you tried loading uoam first ( making sure to delete all map files and run it as a fresh clean install ? )
I have installed this on several computers with several Different operating systems and have never run into 1 issue of it not working for me...
There is also a likley registery key file that is corupt or you have uoam configured for a default uo install location when infact you may have custom install location.
Otherwise I would suggest malwarebytes and ccleaner to clean out your system as your system may have a bug on it that is causing the meory leak to result in your crashing issue...
I was having the exact same issue. Took me a while to figure out the work around.
The problem seems to be UOAM trying to communicate with the UpdateAce server, which no longer exists. You can change the settings so it no longer tries this, but only if you can get past the point where it tries in the first place.
The solution: disconnect from your network (disable wifi, disconnect ethernet cord, etc), then run UOAM. Instead of crashing, it will tell you that the update failed. Click on the settings box in the lower-left hand corner. Put a check in the second box (to open the preference menu next time you run the program). Finishing opening the progran, then close it.
Reconnect to your network, then run UOAM again. When the preference box comes up, deselect all of the files - we DO NOT want it checking for updates for any of them. Then UOAM should work fine for you thereafter.
I am doing this from memory since I am not at my home PC right now, but this is what worked for me. I hope it helps.
@Lestatzero - I've tried using Ccleaner to help with the memory leak but it did not seem to help the situation, but I did not know that loading UOAM first would delete all map files.
@Dramoor - Many thanks the linked worked great and have not had an issue since i reinstalled using v.9
Thanks again guys, hope to see you in Fel sometime soon.
