Halloween Dungeon Opened!

Post by +Nyx »

I have relocated, revamped, and reopened the Halloween dungeon this year, and it's filled with goodies for everyone!

To enter the Halloween dungeon, go to Mistas and run South until you see the small tent camp. The entrance is slightly to the Southeast of the camp.

Changes & Important Info:

- Relocated
- Added a second level to the dungeon.
- Re-tweaked the previous mini-bosses, many of their functions did not work and they will now.
- Added 5 additional mini-bosses.
- All previous 'stealable' items are still available, however their locations are not fixed. "Stealables" located in chests or barrels will move to new locations every 6 hours. There are 15 possible items.
- Added 3 additional stealables - pumpkins on the vine (large), pumpkins on the vine (small), and The Horseman's Head
- All minibosses' loot has been updated - each miniboss will drop 6-12k gold and each miniboss has 2-4 Halloween dungeon 'artifacts' to collect. 22 in total.
- All minibosses have a small chance of dropping a valuable item such as bat wing sandals or jackal's collar, as well as 1 previously unseen weapon.
- This dungeon has FREE CANDY! All candy spawners updated with new candies which can be picked up from the ground. 15 different candies in total.
- All trash mobs have a 50% drop rate of human skulls, to make up for the recent lack of availability :)
- There are 2 res stations per level
- Healing has not been diminished in this dungeon
- There is a 2 minute logout delay for this dungeon. This means that if you log out inside the dungeon without securing your camp, your character will stay in-world and be subject to death by any wandering hostiles. The staff are not responsible for any lost items or pets if you log out in the dungeon in spite of this warning.
- You MUST be patched to enjoy this dungeon!

The dungeon will stay open until November 1st. Enjoy, shardlings!

Please keep in mind that all spawn sharing and kill stealing rules still apply in the Halloween dungeon. If a person is camping a spawn that you want as well, you are free to wait with them. The person who was there first will get the next spawn, and the person who was there 2nd gets the spawn after that. Instances of kill stealing will be documented and could incur jail time if they are repeated offenses. Play by the rules and save yourself the trouble.

Nyx you have done a great job on this dungeon. I have found so many candies and got a couple other goodies. Thanks so much for this. I wanted to let you know that for the most part each are taking turns and others help one another out but there are some that are like vultures. I was killing one of the bosses yesterday and had it about half dead while someone was standing there just watching me die. Never bothered to heal me or my pet. I know it isn't required to help out the other player but out of common courtesy I have been doing that. This guy watched me die the swooped in and took my boss and looted it. I understand he did have the right to loot it since he did kill it (which I did too) but no respect I tell ya. Never did he ask if I wanted the loot and never did he try to heal. Like I said vulture. And the funny thing is I was healing that same person AND pets earlier in the day. He didn't ask me to, I just did it to help out. Now I am feeling like why should I bother to help if people are going to be so rude. I am not saying all are that way. In fact I had another player ask if I needed help and he helped and DIDN'T loot and asked me if I got anything good. It just would be nice if all were like that player. It would be nice to have more team players instead of all for themself. I know I am asking to much though. That is just how the world is these days. Me Me Me

Anna Marie,

Yep, yep, and yep. It is not against the rules to commandeer a spawn that killed a player that was previously fighting it, unless that person is with a party that is also fighting that same spawn (You would be stealing a kill that other players were currently working on in a party agreement to share the kill). However, it is also not against to rules to not help someone that refuses to help you after you have helped him/her in the past. I would just not offer aid in the future. I say this as an opinion of mine, not a directive.

Sorry to hear about your encounter, not all of us are like that.

Thanks for the reply +V. I know everyone is not like that. In fact I have been on here like 7 months and have only encountered 2 people like that. Most are very helpful and I try to return the favor when I can. I am not going to let a couple rude people turn me away from helping out others but I know I will not help out those rude ones ever again.

I would like to say thank you to the staff for the dungeon. I have had a blast wandering around killing enemies. I have not been able to kill any of the bosses yet, in fact may not be able to (the headless horseman owned me on a couple occasions)but despite this it has been fun, a few other payers have helped me out and I appreciate that. Good job on the dungeon guys.

Same thing happened to me but my comp locked up and all my pets died and someone killed the boss I had darn near redlined. By the time I got back the boss and the dude who killed it were long gone.

I don't see a problem. If you can't handle the boss, then get the help before you engage it, rather than assuming random people are going to help because you're going to die.

Yeah, that was really uncalled for.

Everyone else, please report any instances of kill stealing as soon as you can, and if at all possible send a razor packet video / screencapture video to [email protected]. I assure you I will speak with anyone who is causing problems for other players in a timely fashion.

If certain players cannot behave themselves in the Halloween dungeon, I will revoke their privilege of entering it. I made it to be fun, not so a handful of players could cut in and make it miserable for everyone else.

I had a great experience today. Aster helped me heal my pets after I dropped conn. He could have let me and my pets die but stayed with me until I killed the boss. I offered to give up the artie that spawned and he declined. Class act all the way, Owe him a bunch.

i havent seen any instance of people being malicious in the dungeon, sorry that happened like that to you. i was under the impression that if u started the kill and died in a turn based dungeon, like how lady mel used to be ettiquette deems you either help rez the character or wait for the character who started before looting. who ever owns the kill makes the determination wether or not any one else gets a chance at loot. though if you disapear on a kill, i.e. crash, logout, ect that you wait at least 60 seconds before taking control of the spawn. if you were gone long enough for someone to finish the kill and loot and u dont know who it was, there is very little that can be done about it. i would have at least pm'd the other character if i knew who they were though.

Also due to the kill stealing/hurt feelings ect on the shard i always make someone say in overhead chat that they want my help on a spawn before helping. that way if someone is trying to do it solo i dont step on there toes. rezzing requires no request but if you want help on a kill be sure to be precise in your wording in overhead chat, that way there is something staff can look back into to see what intentions were out there. for example if you say can you help me with this. that does imply that there should be a shared loot. however if you say if you help me kill this it could speed up respawn for your turn, your still taking turns on loot. though u should ask if they would like you to hang out and help on there kill.

I just wanted to mention that for the Halloween dungeon I'm making the official rule:

If you die while killing a spawn, you have 2 minutes to res and get back to killing it, or the next person in line may begin. If you enter a spawn area and see a player's corpse, or the mob half dead, wait 2 minutes then you can kill it. The same will go for disconnects/crashes during a spawn. Courtesy to a fellow player will be time and effort well spent 99% of the time, so give someone a shot to get the spawn they waited for. :)

Thanks +Nyx, +V, +Coli, for your commitment to keeping Excelsior friendly, no-grief fun. It can't be easy with all the inventive ways people come up with to circumvent that 'Be nice' rule. Your efforts and the results are appreciated. :)
