Not to be nitpicky, but this is the 2nd time i am getting screwed out of a stat'd cloak, i had and account here, it got deleted because i was driving a truck over the road for 8 months, i had to start all over again this was not to long before the winter 2011 quest for the glittering ice wrap, i couldnt do it myself and didnt have friends to run me through it, i would have been able to with my old account, so i figured hey theres always next year, now for 2 years since it has not been offered as a reward, now you come out with these quests for new players (which i think is great) but u put a cloak that is beyyer than the gleam leggings )that im still to weak to obtain) that they can get and the quest is not repeatable, so basically the only way i can obtain it is to find someone and basicallly swindle them out of theirs (because i know if they stick around theyre gonna regret it) - sorry for being a whiner, not usually my style, but i feel everyone hould have a shot at those items once - going by days old an account is doesnt really gauge a players progression

I agree with Semz on one side. I think this is amazing for new players and there is definitely some "cloak envy" going on from those of us who have been through the slog that is going from newb to mid range player and are still making that long journey to where we want to be. It does seem that perhaps those mist armaments are a bit OP considering our only options for those slots as mid range players (either relayer or Follower of the Old Lord for example). I mean, I am closing in on 600 days on the shard, and I would still be wearing that cloak, likely the sash too, and it would help a lot in moving me forward in my own progression. Currently, my only option is to either a) convince someone to sell me a cloak of mist (prob a longshot or something I'd feel dirty about as Semz mentioned), or relayer, which at present takes me at least several months of dedicated playtime (I currently have 4 relayers so I'm averaging 1 about every 5 months). My proposal would be this, for the rest of us, open up those three non-repeatable quests for a limited time (a week, a month, whatever). Any new players who start will continue to have the opportunity, but us mid tiers with our "cloak envy" would have a shot as well. I know we have a lot to look forward to in both Touria and Elysium, and that helps lessen the sting for sure, the main issue being we don't have a timetable on this to look forward to as it is outside of your purview (+Nyx and +Veritas I mean). I know there are likely many unforeseen issues with this and other people will weigh in and have their opinions on why it shouldn't happen. I'm perhaps not feeling as slighted as some others, but it would be a nice gesture for those of us here who did the rat quest for hours on end, who paid millions for our animal taming and lore ps and pets a couple of years ago before they started being handed out for 5k (cant believe this happens in WC btw), who stuck around and leveled a Hanzo's Bow to 100 (ok I might be the only one who did that), etc., just to get to that middle tier. I'm hopeful, but I understand if not possible.

I dont understand what the fuzz is all about. Maybe the new content (Elysium and Touria) for veteran players will have even better cloaks and sashes and everything... wich newbies cant wear or can only dream of obtaining it by themselves. Too be honest, getting a newbie into selling his sash or cloak is very harmfull to them, since it might be a long time until they can get a a decent item for that slot again.
Be patient, the Veteran Santa will come sooner then you think prolly. I bet everyone will get candy equally shared.. :)

Ayik, the problem is not so straightforward as waiting. I have faith that the new content will be awesome because I'm confident in the staff here. However, +V's content is geared toward high end players and end game content. This already rules out players such as Semz and myself. Additionally, +V's content had an initial anticipated launch of Fall 2013. Things don't always go according to plan and much of this is outside of our Admins control as major overhauls are needed for this content, but it proves a point. +Nyx has mentioned much of her content will serve the mid range player well and that definitely sounds exciting, but with her "hope" of releasing content this Spring, she could finish or already be finished with all of her stuff by Spring and there are so many things that are outside of her control that it may be much much longer. The challenge is the slog. Clearly there are mid range players who stick around, Semz, myself, there are a few others in my guild, but we are a dying breed from what I can tell. I'd rather we not be a lost generation as new players come in and don't have to go through the same things that we stuck it out through, and the vets that are here are pretty consistent with what I considered a vet when I first started. It's easy to see how someone can think I've been here to over a year and a half and now a new player can come in and get gear better than mine in several cases, that I am unlikely to ever have access to. Clearly we have no problem being patient, we that are in this account range and player range are by far a minority. The vast majority come and go. We are excited about content for newer players as that means better things for the shard long term. We just don't necessarily want to be closed out of things happening now. There's a saying about a bird in the hand that seems apropros here. :)

I find it difficult to see people complaining about not being eligible to go to the new player dungeons. The staff are trying to improve the shard. They saw a need to retain new players and provide content for them. So they took time out of their lives to try and fix this. What are staff supposed to do? Not improve the shard to avoid upsetting people? First new players say they need more to do, so they fix this and now people complain that they aren't eligible to do said content. This must surely lead to a feeling from the staff "Damned if you do Damned if you don't" Personally I don't want the staff feeling that.

And as Ayik said, there is content coming for Med range and Vets, and you can buy the cloak off a new player anyways.

I guess they way to look at it is, it's not all about you, it's all about making the shard better for everyone. Buck up a bit.

Your own lack of logging on or doing quests for special items does not equate to you getting 'screwed'. Not qualifying for new content also does not equate to you getting 'screwed'.

The glittering ice wrap isn't going to be offered any longer, but there will be comparable items in Elysium for the mid-range player. The new players may or may not want the cloak for themselves, it isn't better than a relayer and the cloak is one of the first slots most people relayer into, so you're not hurting a newbie by buying a cloak from them, unless you don't pay a very good price for it.

Ok Melkor, ill bite, First off - i said nothing about being mad that i cant go to the new area, if you read my post youll see that i thought that was great, please dont askew what i said into some oh i hate the staff, everything they do is unfair - the glittering ice wrap was only available 1 year, and staff knows that ALOT of people got it who werent intended to be "ran through" Now let me make my points simpler for you

1. there are people who are under 120 days that have better gear than me, so in my eyes account age isnt a great deciding factor in who should be "allowed" to get this new armor (Nothing im saying has to do with the content its the rewards)

2. the rewards that are being given out are better than the reward from sgail which is 1000 times harder and i still cant complete it

3.when the new content (touria/elysium) is released EVERYONE will have access to it

all im asking is that everyone gets a shot at having the equipment


on a side note, please Melkor, inform us as to what u wear in your cloak/sash slots so that we can realize why its not such a big deal to you

I never said the word "mad" in my post.

I did not direct my post only to you, and certainly did not try to "askew" your meaning. I think your meaning came off very clearly. I didn't take your message to be "anti-staff"

And dude, I do get that there are people who are over 120 days who would like to be able to do the quest, I get that. But to me it comes down to what I said in my post. It's not about one player, it's about improving the shard in general.

Although I have not seen the stats on the sash or cloak, chances are that I would not wear them. However I do collect GM made clothes (and have a closet full of them) and would like to not only obtain the items, but have a chance to do the quests myself. But hey, it's for new players and not for me, way she goes. It's improving the shard and therefore my own fun. (since you asked, I wear the Glittering Ice Wrap and either an Animal Lore Sash or a SOT relayered to sash)

Imagine if the vets who don't need any of the stuff in there, but only to sell it all, had access to the area....No new player would have time to even hunt the stuff, the vets would be killing everything/stealing everything/just to sell to the new players who couldn't obtain the items made specifically for them. Sounds legit to me?

im not saying let everyone do the quests, heck i dont know the answer, maybe make the stuff not bind on equip, or maybe make each person able to repeat just 1 of the quests and get 1 extra piece they can sell, all im saying is that anyone who has any idea what theyre doing is not going to sell that cloak as it will serve better to have that cloak and relayer many other slots first- i would still be wearing that cloak for a long time to come if i had 1
