New player with some questions

I am a long time player of UO, but have not played in a few years. I last played on another free shard, but there were only about 20 players and they were never on when I was. Anyway, I loaded the client and made a character (Croaker).

Questions

How do I know the custom hues loaded? Is there someplace I can go to check?
I installed UO automap, but how do I get it to the front? It is behind my window? And the map is black, but I saw some suggestions for that already.
Should I install razor or UOEZ? I am running 64 bit W7.

I am in EST and will be on tonight. Is there a place players hang out in game?

Hi and welcome to the shard.

I'm afraid I can not answer your uo auto map question as I myself do not use it and had the same problems as you describe.

As for the custom hues- there was a recent as I believe final patch. You can make sure you are patched by entering the portal in town center with a welcome mat in front of it- depending on if patched you may or may not see the welcome mat. I believe the portal is blue (not too sure been a while) and if properly patched you should be able to see the welcome mat and also the graphics inside the portal. You could probably find more info on it here in the forums, by trying to search for the word patch.

Razor or easy uo is probably more of a personal preference question. Personally I have an easier time with razor myself. I have tried easy uo and had a hard time learning how to use it. But, it may be better for you. I'd try both and see which you prefer.

As for hang out spots trinsic seems to be popular, also Britain has gained popularity. I usually like to hang in Trinsic and town center. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Welcome to the Shard! I will be on later and can help you with the UOAM issues. There is a post on the forums that I did on how to fix some of the issues with it and Razor. Make sure you "run as administrator" on Vista and up.

If there is a stay on top option I haven't seen it.

Map -> UO Client Files location, pick the Excelsior install directory manually.
Map -> * Performance Settings, use these to make automap go download the maps

Should I install razor or UOEZ? I am running 64 bit W7.

Razor is the standard here and everywhere else you may wish to play. UOEZ is allowed here but banned most everywhere else. If you want portable knowledge and you want to be able to get help from others, use Razor.

You can also use OpenEUO here. Razor and OpenEUO do not conflict with each other, so you can use both.

Razor allows simple macroing only. OpenEUO is a full fledged programming language that can interact with the UO client.
