Okay, so I've been looking at my weapon, trying to figure out if it is worth bothering with. Then I figured I'd take some good advice in some other threads here and try to kinda map it out and see where points can be spent, etc. I have no weapon/point system like program at my disposal, so I have been looking at my weps information tab in game and using a calculator to try and work it out. I basically have found something I want to try with points- however need to know for certain if I am doing this correct at all and if the math is right. If not, I am very confused and back to stage one. I will try to make this next section as legible as possible, and may try to include a pic of the Weapon we are speaking of:
Okay, with calculator first thing I did was try to see how many points once level 100 is reached that I would have available.
So I figured with each level gained on a looted wep there are 5 points you acquire. So with my understanding of it I applied the following:
5 (points) X 100 (levels)= 500 (points). I hope I am correct.
Next I decided since fireball has been put on at 18 I believe, to try and go put 50 on.
Fireball is 4 sp so I equated 4 x 50 to see where that would take me point wise.
I got 200.
I also want another hit. At first was thinking mana leach, but really want to try out harm.
So in my calculations I did the same as above. 4 x 50= 200.
So there is 400 points in that (if my math is right).
Next I needed to deduct what has been spent already on the wep, which I brought life leach up to 5.
So i calculated 3 x 5= 15.
We now have 415.
So there should be theoretically if I am even doing this right- 85 spending points left.
Well there are other hits on it: Hit lower attack, defense, and lightening all at 46.
I want to try and bring them up to 50.
So we have
Hla- 3 x 4 ( I came up with four because at 46 you will need 4 levels raised)= 12
Hld- 3 x 4= 12
Then lightening- 4 x 4= 16
So I added those and it seemed I would need 40 points out of 85. Thereby leaving me with 45 points left.
Given if my math is correct the wep would then, after all that, look like this:
Fireball-50
life leach-5
hit harm-50
lightening-50
hit lower attack-50
hit lower defense-50
__________________________
Assuming I am even doing this right in the first place.
So, my question is (and sorry for possibly an insanely large post here), Am I even correct in these calculations whatsoever? Or is the way in which I am trying to calculate the points here even logical?
Does 5 points x 100 levels even make sense in the context of figuring out the spending points that should be available once I reach level 100?
I would really appreciate some input on this because being entirely wrong in this would mean find a different weapon and starting all over and not knowing how to figure out how to even tally up points.
At any rate here is a pic of the Wep I am talking about here (may be helpful):

Re: Weapon Help, Please?
Your calculations are correct in general. One minor thing only - lvl 100 weapon has 495 point, not 500, cos it start with 0 points on lvl 1. But as i look at it, this weapon has one weakness - Ophidian Slayer. This means u will do 2x dmg on all mobs in ophidian group(part from Reptilian group), but every mob from Arachnid group(scorpions, spiders, terathans) will do 2x dmg on u. And since its a mele weapon u may dislike it in a long run.
Re: Weapon Help, Please?
Mostly correct. In all honesty, I wouldn't bother much with this weapon. It's a base 3x46 weapon, which, while not common, are not very rare. You're going to need to spend 200 EDs to type change it into something more useful (assuming you don't want to use it as a scythe). Plus another 100 to add Spell Channeling. So, now you've spent 300 EDs, more than half a relayer, on a pretty common weapon. Oh, and assuming you do want to type change it to something with better specials, you're going to need at least some mana leech to spam them unless you like to walk around in wraith form, etc. Not to say it's a bad weapon per se, it's just I personally would hold out for something more worthy of that kind of investment. If it were a War Hammer or Double Axe or something with decent specials/damage already, I would say level that thing up and spend your points. Instead, I'd look for a 3x46 with a hit spell, mana leech, and either HLD or HLA depending on whether you want a direct damage or area wep. Good luck to you.
Re: Weapon Help, Please?
Evening,
Thank you both very much for your replies.
Terra: Of course, it didn't dawn on me about level one, Homer Simpson "Doh"! moment there.
Interesting about the slayers. I remember reading about them on the wiki briefly when I joined. So thank you for that.
Pariah: Thank you for the honesty. Personally I wasn't sure if I should bother with it or not.
Main thing I guess- I didn't loot it myself. I bought it. Honestly I would love to find a decent looted weapon myself, but it seems a lot of nice wep drops are coming from peerless bosses, which I am dreadfully not ready for, and entirely confused about locations even with what is posted about it on the wiki, and places that I can not hope to enter without instant death.
Death wouldn't bother me so much if I could afford insurance costs, corpse retrieval, etc.
Then I could always try my hand again.
Basically I want something to do with the game that is going to get me where I would like to be. I just don't know what yet.
Anyway topic is the wep. I forgot for a moment there why mana leech is important. Thank you for the reminder.
I will continue to look for a wep that fits my personal wants/ needs.
Not too sure yet if I want to try melee, or go the yumi approach. Looks like I have got some decisions to make.
Thank you guys for your time, and take care.

Re: Weapon Help, Please?
With regards to the actual locations that decent weapons drop, it's not just the bosses. I've found fairly decent ones like 4 x 38 and better just from the mobs leading up to the boss. If you have pets, the stuff in citadel before travesty is very easy and tif you didn't want to attempted the boss yet you could sell or save the keys for a later date
Good luck to you and I hope you find what you are looking for.

Re: Weapon Help, Please?
A couple of easy to obtain artifacts which do make a decent weapon in the beginning are:
1) Darkened Sky - Needs mana leech, but there's room for another hit spell as well. Does good damage with Crushing Blow
2) Hanzo's Bow - Needs mana leech and a hit spell, but if you cannot find a good crafted bow, at least you can make one from this one
I'm sure there are players suggesting The Horselord as well, but once again, it has a slayer, which doesn't make it that good an option for a weapon you'd use everywhere. Naturally, if you do hunt a lot of reptiles, go ahead with The Horselord, but you might wish to have another weapon for the arachnids.

Re: Weapon Help, Please?
I second the citadel. Most of the mobs there should be manageable and can drop good looted weps. Feel free to pm me in game and I can give you a tour.
Re: Weapon Help, Please?
Yumi's win outright, IMO. Range, highest damage, and the best abilities. Ornate axe's might do more base damage, but double shot with 3-4x hit spells wins. but that means spending 200 ED for a wep. Finding a good looted is hard enough in itself, let alone finding a decent weapon type so you don't have to wep change it.
Best bet is finding a good 3-4x crafted yumi. Honestly? A 2-3x would do... All you need is:
Mana Leech
a Hit Spell (preferably lightning or fireball)
MAYBE Life Leech
Then you add lightning/fireball, whichever it doesn't have, maybe round out the stats to 40-50% to make it look pretty... Add dex or str/hp, or some magic arrow, and you're done. Here's a quick run down of the other "hits" on a weapon.
Hit Lower Def: Lowers the defense of a target... But most will die with in one or two hits, so who cares! You should have max HCI anyway.
Hit Lower Atk: Using a Yumi? You shouldn't be getting hit, so this doesn't matter. Melee? Again, stuff dies before it's relevant.
Hit Stam Leech: Worthless. Use divine fury to replenish stamina to full (and also gain a swing speed increase, HCI increase, a dmg increase THAT WORKS OUTSIDE OF ALL CAPS, meaning it boosts above 100% from gear, so worth casting like consc wep.)
Hit Life Leech: Semi-worthwhile. Bandies should be good here, but if you aren't a dexxer, there's always curse weapon, which is far more reliable. Helpful when MS'd, hence why included as a maybe.
Lightning>Fireball>Magic Arrow/Harm.
Harm does less damage the further you are from a target, so is bad for bows.
