Remove Traps Skill

Postby Rhiemath on Thu Jun 15, 2017 1:53 pm

While I understand that pursuing the remove traps skill has no real purpose (since we all have the ability to effectively do this with Telekinesis), my OCD is forcing me to do so anyway. To that end, I've been using the magic lock spell on a chest and then using the remove traps skill on that chest. This has gotten me up to 75.1 skill. My question is this. Is there a way to take the skill higher without actively searching out harder traps in dungeons? Will a higher quality box, for example, provide a higher quality trap via the spell?

The only thing that has worked for me, after the magic lock/remove trap on tinker made chest, was just removing the traps in dungeons and other places. Elixiers of course works too. It is the type of elixier that seems to be very rare. I'm at 87.3 but haven't really tried hard to raise it. Just a little dungeon/prisoner chest every once in a while. Also, I would work the chest in a couple of banks, like Trinsic and Vesper. Don't forget to also work the crates.

I'm at 87.0 but I've been stuck there for a year. Almost all chest traps (including banks, dungeons and prisoner traps) are either too easy or too hard to gain.

Ok. Chests at the banks. I'll check into those. Thanks!

Just got to GM yesterday - just need a little patience from high 80's. Sometimes an hour or two with no gains then sometimes 3 or 4 in a row. Gave up on a chest if say 6 attempts failed with no gains. Kept doing a small number of areas frequently (lvl 3 & 4 chests). Ones I did most were :-
Trinsic Bank
Yew Abbey - 2 spots
Yew crypts - 1 lich spawns
Destard - Safe spot between 1st room lvl 1 & water ele room
Despise - lvl 3 - Ogre Lord Is - 10-12 Ogre Lords
Despise - lvl 3 - Acid ele area - 3 acid ele & ettins

There are many other areas where lvl 3 & 4 chest are, though I found these re-spawned fast enough along with spawn kills to keep me amused.

Though reaching 120 skill in Remove Traps looks not to be worth effort - apart from capping another skill.
Did a lot of Treasure Maps today and could not remove traps on any lvl 5 or higher maps. (Did at least 12 lvl 5's) Some of the lvl 4's still took 2-3 attempts to succeed as well. Shame the 120 skill is not better.

Interesting and a bit disappointing. Now, my question is changed. Is there such thing as remove traps gear? :)
