First relayer question
First relayer question
I have bought several faulty and cheap relayers to increase my stat but I am trying to make my first relayer weapon.
Initial stats are
Hit chance increase 14%
Hit lower attack 46%
Hit lower defense 46%
Dexterity bonus 8
The others are hit attributes which will not carry.
I added the dexterity (needed at the time) but I dont know how much I should increase the bonuses the weapon already has. I would love to have health, stamina and mana increase and/or regeneration but I am not sure which is the best way to go at it.
All suggestions are welcome. I already have 70 resists (I think that is the max allowed), 220 DEX and 100 LRC.
Also, is adding Luck deed to my equipment cost effective at this time? None are end game relayers but rather odds and ends I have managed to acquire.
Thanks.

Re: First relayer question
My advice would be to stop immediately with that weapon and quickly place it in the trash bag.
Jokes aside, please don't waste your ED relayering that. If you already have some junk relayers, do not make another one. You can pick up a resist base cheaply on many vendors, any of which will be significantly better than the blank you are leveling.
When looking for a relayer base (and you aren't at endgame when it is BC/TH only) you want to add up the spend points for your weapon. For example a 3x14 resist weapon (they are basically given away in TC) has 210 spend points (3x14x5=210), resists cost 5 per point, so having a high resist relayer is useful in the early/mid game. The thing you have has 14 HCI (the 46% stats don't carry over). So it has 14x3=42 spend points (HCI costs 3). So a 3x14 resist is already 5x better than your weapon before you even put a deed on it.
I would be leveling a resist weapon 3/4x46/58 (you can get the lower end ones very cheap, PM me in game and I will give you one for free) or a Swords of Prosperity as they come with 200 luck (200x3=600 spend points, but you can buy luck with ED, so it isn't fully equivalent).
As for stats, at your stage you should be adding to the maximum: Strength, Dex, Int, Hits, Mana, Stamina, RPD, SDI, EP.
Once you have the above stats at their maximum start adding the magic stuff as needed (LRC, FC, FCR) and some regens. The regens are very good early on. Make sure you keep your resistances maxxed at this stage too (hence level a resistance weapon).
Remember to never, under any circumstances, add weapon hits, swing speed increase, night sight, luck, Self Repair, UBWS or lower stat requirement to any relayer. Ever.
To answer your question about luck; no, I would not add luck to any of those things, for 2 reasons. You will ultimately replace those items and won't get the investment back, and secondly, luck seems to make your drops worse as it goes up, keep your luck low and be lucky for longer. (The second part is based purely on my observations and is a bit tongue in cheek, don't take it as advice.) Don't use spend points on luck when leveling, use the deeds later on worthy relayers.
Use the following as a guide to keep things as close to max as you can get them:

Howdy,
Read this first: https://www.uoex.net/wiki/Relayer#Getting_Started
Then return with any unanswered questions.

Re: First relayer question
Thank you both for your advice. I was mistaken in the carryovers for hit lower defense and such. I will get a resist weapon and level that one and use the guide Wil provided.
Then that axe has whirlwind and also a hot poison area 50%. should I level and use as a weapon? Or should I stick to Blazes of death? I have just finished levelling a Blaze and wanted to start on a relayer, which I royally messsed up as I can now see.
I am also levelling an Exiler (thought at the time the demon slaying would be great) but it is a pain to level due to lack of whirlwind attack. Great against Balrons though.

Re: First relayer question
Blaze of Death is a cheap and solid weapon for early/mid game and its easy to level. Just drop mana leech and lightning on it and itll do whatever until you get something better.
As for the resist weapon for relayer, id also suggest trying to get a weapon with whirl so its easier to level. Levelling stuff where the special moves are trash makes it incredibly boring to level
also, check out the caps on stuff before you add them to your relayers.

Re: First relayer question
you dont need mana leech on a blaze, much better to add another hit
Re: First relayer question
If you want to take a crack at leveling a Blaze of Death, PM me in game and i will give you this. I got it at the last IDOC. Not sure if it's worth leveling further but you can have it for free. Let's see what everyone else thinks.memowolf wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 1:32 amThank you both for your advice. I was mistaken in the carryovers for hit lower defense and such. Re: First relayer question
Whirlwind doesn't cost much mana per use. With even moderate mana regens you can WW every swing with no mana leech, use wraithform or whatever gives the mana leech. If you are using the other special on the blaze, you're doing it wrong. Same goes for any all-in-whirlwind weapon where you never use the other special, no mana leech needed.
gilga is right, another hit, preferably AoE, will be much better than HML on the blaze of death.

Re: First relayer question
Got the Blaze of Death. Thanks Alibaster!!
Got the 3x14 resists FC1 weapon from Warren! Great!! (but its a sceptre so I look silly fighting with it)
Which would be the best BoD template? Should they all be mob killers with Area hits and another weapon for bosses and such with high damage to 1 target?
I am levelling a 3x14 resists. I will follow the guidelines to create it but so far NPS. In what should I invest my points.
What are the attributes a relayer will have no matter what? STR 8 Hit point 8?
Thanks to everyone but I have wasted a couple levelled weapons on the way. The price of learning.

To answer your question, you can use the advice I gave you above to get started. Then use the wiki stat caps page to start working towards the other caps.Johnny Warren wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 9:36 pm

If possible, plan your relayers so you don't end up with 7 FC for example...
Re: First relayer question
Already added spell channeling, luck, night sights and lower requirements to it.
Joking aside. Thanks for all of the advice. I did see about maxing STR, DEX and all but I already have 228 DEX with current gear. So I wanted like advice on things that would never be wasted. I am guessing
STR 8
Hit points 8
But what should go next. DEX, INT mana regen?
Should I add any hit point regen if I am already using an auto healer?
This is my first "real" relayer made by myself. NPS to avoid making mistakes until now.
FC and other attributes would be the last added so that I may plan correctly and avoid stat caps.

Re: First relayer question
I think if this is your first relayer then after you add all the stuff in my "must have" list I would look at the regens. It doesn't matter what you add first, dex or int, as you will add them both ini the end. Getting 100% LRC on your suit early is also a good QoL upgrade. The regens are all very valuable in the early game. You get the most gains from the first few points spent on them. See the graphs in the thread here:

Re: First relayer question
yeah makes sense. i was assuming he didnt have any relayers so regeb would be low and i prefer to ride horse over having to go in wraith form when killing hoardss of stuff. personal preference i guess ^^Johnny Warren wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 7:26 amWhirlwind doesn't cost much mana per use. Re: First relayer question
For an early-game leveled weapon, the Reaper of Souls from the Mistvale quests is a solid choice. It doesn't realyer but it has solid base stats, whirlwind and a very fast swing speed. By mid-game when you have several relayers there will be weapons that better compliment the relayers.
