Crossing pets.

Post by Highroller »

Ok, what goes on people. Lately I am having a LOT more luck crossing my totally maxed out mules using a new character that has 100 lore and 98% taming. Ie about a 50% success rate and with my 2 tamers that have 127+ lore and 120 taming they are having about a 5% success rate.

All 3 characters are eating so they aren't hungry. Some people say to cast bless on the pets and to feed them prior to crossing them. If anything this makes my success rate lower not higher.

If I have better success rate with a character with lower taming then what the frack is the point of having high taming? Is it all just random chance vice higher taming helping?

Can staff tell me the REAL factors if any that determine if you get a success or a failure when breeding pets? I am getting REAL testy about now.

Thanks in advance.

Just dug thru the official release of the script and from what it looks like, the taming/lore skills have no effect whatsoever on the chance to breed.

Unless it was modified, here's what it does:

- Figures the stats of the babies-to-be.
- Adds the stats together (HP, Stam, Mana, Str, Dex, Int, Resists, MinDmg, MaxDmg, MaxLvl) and sets it to variable chance.
- Picks a random number between 1 and chance, if the result is less than 1500 then the breeding is successful.

So if I'm breeding a pair of maxxed, non-ointed lvl 40 mules, chance would be set to 4957 = (HP/Stam/Mana) 2500 + (Str/Dex/Int) 2000 + (Resists) 375 + (Dmg/Lvl) 82. It picks a random number between 1 and 4957, giving me roughly a 30% gamble to hit the 1-1500 mark.

Again though, this is assuming the formula wasn't changed by The Man. :P

Oh look, another aspect of the breeding system that buggers non-pack-instinct caster pets and favors pack-instinct melee pets.

Edit:
That came off sounding a bit angry, that's not my intent though. Just pointing it out.

That would sort of make sense I guess, but if its a 30% chance then I gotta be the unluckiest person in the game. I think its a lot less. When they changed it to make an ostard ie pack instinct pet with a max of 125 dex 250 strength as difficult to cross as a 1000/1000/250 non-pack instinct I think the effect was to make non pack instinct REAL difficult. Then again the fail rate was why I stopped breeding noble steeds. And they are pack instinct. I have counted before and several times gotten pairs of cu's to successfully cross 1 out of 10 times or less. Other shards I have played on had approx a 50% fail rate. That was annoying enough.

ok. I didn't keep track of this, so I could be wrong. It seemed to me that when i was trying to breed my pets alone, I had a much lower success than when I had a 2nd person helping. I am wiling to check it out, I have plenty of breedable pets lying around. I will breed 10 alone and 10 with a second person and see what the results are. May be a day or two because i think I can only breed 2 pair every 6 hours or so.
