Something to listen to while you play?

Post by Chyna »

so i was discussing this with a few people a few days ago and thought i'd like to share it with everyone, its a small little radio station that i like to call "KTown Radio".. its a variety station and i just happen to be a DJ for it :) :dance

I would like to invite you to feel free and tune in if you have winamp, windows media player, or really anything that can stream music and has connection to the internet ;) (yes itunes works to!)

the url is http://www.ktownradio.net or you can click right in and bypass the website by going to http://tv29.stream-music.net:8148

((if this is not a good place to put this, or this is against any rules, please delete it but please give me a warning before banning me **bites nails** i just wish to help people enjoy their time.... and yes i take requests of all sorts!! =) ))

'Variety' is right - I just heard a mix of "I Shot The Sheriff", "Don't Hold Back", "Holla-back Girl" and "Stayin' Alive". I'm sure there were a few others in there as well, but I was too busy pretending I was at a rave. Not quite my preference but definitely listenable :P.

My question is would I be able to request songs on the total opposite of the spectrum? Like maybe some Korn, Kittie or Killswitch? If not then I can settle for a little Sublime. :dance

Sorry just found where the post was moved

Yes we take requests but the station is f-bomb friendly... so Korn - Ya'll want a single would be a no no... sublime is allowed .. much anything that doesn't have the F-bomb in it.. and dependant on who the current spinner is atm depends on the music your going to get.. we have some off the wall people that are all over the spectrum, i personally am 80s rock and "club"/hip hop music.. but we have about 10 different DJs that hold different hours on the stream

Mostly metal (normally the black and death metal variety) and various types of trance.

As for where I go for my music, soulseek or http://listen.grooveshark.com/ if I'm away from my main computer.

Hm... I mostly listen to a mix of newer and older rock (REM/Beatles/Radiohead/Strokes/RHCP), although I've been getting more into downtempo (Thievery Corporation, Sigur Ros), bossa nova and mpb (Apollo Nove, Tita Lima, CeU) lately, especially while working.

Heh definately not in the majority here... I usually play listening to country or alternative... Usually nothing more heavy than nickleback. Nothing like chopping wood listening to Darryl Worley

I went to college as a Music Major, I love all type of music--just not every song.
My daily listening consists of Metal, Old school rock and roll, classical music (I loop midi files into custom playlists for UO) and I love listening to midi soundtracks of old RPGs I grew up playing: FF4, FF6, FF7, FF8,FF9, FFX, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore.
My favorite composer of all time would have to be Nobuo Umematsu.

My favorite bands: Metallica, Unearth, As I Lay dieing, Led Zeplin, The Who, Chicago, NOFX, waaay too many to list off the top of my head. These are just a few I thought of. Like I said Im into all types of music, I am a musician I can read and write music, edit with Cakewalk apps, fruity loops, Sonar, Cool Edit Pro...etc...

I started playing Guitar around the same time I got into MMOs (around 13), I play Piano, Tenor Sax, Clarinet, and I took voice classes at a junior college, sang some operah music in Itallian, but I wouldnt go as far to call myself a singer.

My favorite instrument is the guitar, but Im gunna say Im allot better on Piano.

UO - Excelsior - Edmund Dauntes
WOW - Earthen Ring - Cryogenic
FFXI - Odin - Edmund

My tastes run the gambit but never touch rap in any manner. Primarily the music must excite my brain, invoke images, provoke thought. To this none is greater in my book then Demitri Shostakovich. For those wondering who I am talking about take a listen to the second movement of the Shostakovich String Quartet No. 8 in C Minor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjvTTfbpWjY

I love almost all types, feeling that variety is the spice of life. I primarily listen to Progressive Rock with Rush :dance at the top of the list, followed by Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, and Emerson Lake and Palmer. I go from Country to Country Rock, Classic to Classical, Southern Rock to New Age, Heavy Metal to Smooth Jazz. I get just as much enjoyment from Metallica as I do from Spyro Gyra and I love to listen to Jean Michel Jarre and Andreas Vollenwieder. Equinox and Oxygene are awesome albums by Jarre and if you want to know what an electrical harp can sound like, try out any of Vollenweider's work. If you ever just want to chill out try some Tangerine Dream. And for any of you who shares my passion for Rush, did you know you can listen to them 24/7 at www.Rushradio.net? For those of you who are familiar with Rush and their songs, you probably figured out that was where my name came from. Oh ya, other than Busta Move, Wild Thang and Baby got Back, Rap isn't happening around me and you know how old those are. :D

BTW Omnipotent, that movement is pretty powerful, I loved it!
