first off, hello. I have been playing uo on and off for many years pay and free. I am coming from a freeshard that has about the same size player base but most of the players there are "l33t" and are a close community. It makes it hard to get to know anyone or get anywhere. I am looking at trying this shard out because from reading the forums the people seem to be nicer and actually be human. But the more I read about it the more confused I get. I am used to the old way of getting gold. Make tamer, get high end pet, kill champs, rinse, repeat. Here there seems to be A LOT of ways to succeed. So, what is the best way to start out here? First off, welcome, glad to have you in our community! Besides the method you described, another method is to "farm" bees to sell the resulting wax and honey back to the beekeeper. Although its pricey to start off with and you have to wait about 10 days for total maturation of your hives, it can help support you. Good luck and I am sure you wil get many other money making ideas thrown at you in short order.

An easy way for new players (20 days and younger) to make some great gold is by killing the rats in the Southeast area of the 'Newbie Dungeon', via the Training Room on the telepad. Players will pay at LEAST 100g per for 'em, making you some killer cash with ease (but extremely boring at times). The pets here are VERY powerful, so you'll want some taming and a few maxxed pets soon. That will allow you to grind balrons for more gold, whomp champs easily, tank the easier Peerless Areas, or (for the crafter) kill Ore/Wood/Leather Elementals, which drop runic tools of the type that they are.


Just a few of the many ways to make some moolah, you'll find that [claim and/or [claimall will be your friend in any case.

Elementals drop runics only when you spawn one by using the appropriate gargoyle tool; axe for wood, knife for leather and pickaxe for ore. The axe will spawn elementals more often than the pickaxe, pickaxe more often than the knife. You can get these items as a random drop from gargoyles and stone gargoyles as well as a drop in treasure chests.
