Organics!
Re: Organics!
FYI Colibri the bios are extremely rare and my bios have taken a ton of time and effort in a very difficult system. I had to have an entire guild of 25 people collecting for me, my room mate and any new player i could recruit to collect organics for the last 6 months?? Also several of those bios were failures and useless...
I was also nice and made a few bios with other player's materials they had collected to experiment with some new combos of dna. And for the record I have been able to collect enough materials for 4 personal bio pets that took 6 months to create.
Also i may point out, I am able to play a great deal of the time, much more than the average player. I am also able to donate to get some of the donation items and high luck...it was a huge investment of time for me, im not sure how the average player would ever be able to accomplish making a bio, sampling dna, getting luck and then the sheer failure rate makes this a rare thing indeed

I feel for your relative UT, seriously. I feel for anyone who loses someone close.

It still doesn't excuse being really rude on the forums. I mean if you are having a hard time with your personal situation you can probably ask a staffer to lock your account a bit if you dont trust yourself to respond on the forums. Just a thought.

Re: Organics!
Actually, in my experience, 100ea for organics is common on shards with economies less rich than here. I think that it's unrealistic to expect prices to go much lower than that---bios are after all the ultimate luxury item, and they should by rights cost tons and tons. It's not like they're a necessary part of the game.
I still think that all mobs should drop a tiny amount of orgs (a 20% chance to drop 1-3 could work). Then the newbs who tend to farm many weaker mobs could readily accumulate orgs, benefiting from a hunting pattern that already comes naturally to them. Thus a couple of days hunting Despise or the woods north of Brit or some other modest hunting ground would get a newb 1K orgs or so to sell. That's not out of line, since you can easily make 50K a day escorting nobles. There's certainly no harm in encouraging newbs to get out there in the wild to play the game, either.
This would also allow players over 21 days to farm small fry for orgs if they're having trouble getting them by other means. It's still a time-consuming task, so still expensive on that level, but at least someone in need can take direct action to get their orgs.
The basis for my suggestion follows from the observation that bottlenecks breed frustration and unhappiness, which is exactly what we're seeing on this thread.

Re: Organics!
I've read this entire post now to this point. Organics have become even more valuable as of late, because the failure rate of sampling DNA has increased significantly. To my personal experience what took me 10 or less vials to acquire, recently took me 33 vials and still failed to get the sample. The Abomination is farmed so often that I thought it was removed from the game. That is the best place to acquire organics for vets.
Next best is taming bods. I have found that I need to complete 40-50 large taming bods in order to acquire 25-30k in organics. I dont get to play as often as I used to, but you can imagine how long this takes. Which makes Bios an elusive achievement for me. Next best source is Bio-engineer in Exodus dungeon. Also farmed so often for 200-300 organics I thought it was removed. Took me several months to actually see him the first time.
Been to Fel Brit sewers couple of times and never seen a failed bio experiment, so I gave up looking there. The Brit swamp has bio experiments there which are few and far between for a single organic per kill. So the best bulk source seems to be the Newbie dungeon. I'm fine with leaving it there for them. Even if someone is so intent on only farming them for gold, it only lasts for 21 days, if they dont get bored first and stop.
Organics are hard or expensive to come by. Now that collecting samples has become so much harder, and it has by about 200+% in my experience, that only raises the demand for them. And I have to tell you this, believe it or not. A couple of months ago I turned in my 20-30 large taming bods, and collected about 25k in organics. I was offered 1k per for them and didn't hesitate to sell them all for 1k a piece. It was certainly worth my time for filling taming bods for that kind of gold.
I think the newbies should still have them in their dungeon. It is very temporary, and I dont think they become millionaires, unless they sleep by their computer and farm them. If they do, they deserve it. Bods are good, but no one likes to spend the time it takes to fill them. I have people constantly asking me to fill taming bods for them. Well I hate it too, but the other sources are not practical due to the high number of players farming or trying to farm them.
I would like to see a couple more places for vets to get organics. I dont like having to fill taming bods everytime I play, just so I can break 30-40 vials attempting to collect very good Dna and still failing to get a sample. I have spent the last 3 months of my playing time trying to get organics myself. Every time I get on, I go check the Abomination and saw it twice in three months. One of those two times it was being slain by someone else. If organics were a little bit more accessible, or the difficulty level of collecting samples was back to normal, the demand would lessen and the price may drop a bit.

Re: Organics!
Have any new places to gather organics been added to the game in the last few months?
Re: Organics!
Don't think so, but the Abomination spawn has been moved to random Felucca dungeons (Noble Steeds have also been moved to random Trammel dungeons).Electra wrote:Have any new places to gather organics been added to the game in the last few months?

Re: Organics!
So I believe organics are becoming a commodity of the past. It seems enough of the player base has an ample supply that the price has dropped. People now offer 150 gp per organic, while they offer 7500gp per ointment. I think ointments are much easier to come by than organics. But I guess ointments are needed in greater supply than organics thus the crazy price.

Re: Organics!
Well maybe everyone else has gotten enough organics but I still need about 5k more of them and no one is sellin. I think ointments at 7500 is alot but that is what everyone seems to pay. If you got organics to sell PM me in game

Re: Organics!
Since I have returned to the shard I cant find any organics for sale...I also cant find the abomination or any reasonable source of organics to get the amount I need to make a bio pet. (except do tons of tedious bods over and over again and get lucky)This was hard before, but now its just a chore
Im a bit frusterated again with the changes related to bios and recalling. This doesnt effect many people, but making bios and collecting the super dna from the bosses was my last little bit of fun left after conquering the shard. I spent tons of time and effort to research and perfect my techniques only to find yet another negative economy change that hits me particularly hard. The whole point to this game is to have fun, get money, collect objects, become powerful and defeat the challenges put before us. We seem to be penalized when we achieve this goal. I would like to see harder challenges added rather than all the fun stuff I have enjoyed nerfed, and completely missed by the new players joining the shard:)
First it was bees made us too much money, then new moa champ made it too ez to get ps, then noob champ flooded market with tons of ps, the ps bag, then organic supply was too ez to get, then Inquisition armor was too powerful, then quest is too ez so change bedlam and drop rates, then bio nerfing, and now no recall
I have still been having trouble trying to get any organics and now it seems they have been selling for over 200 per. Now again with the changes with the recall system and the difficulty to use a bio now, I expect the price to fall back to a reasonable range since a bio will become less desirable and therefore will not sell well and then we wont make them...I lose again on the changes
Again im here to have fun, but now all these things have been diminished to tedious tasks, long walks, or long waits. Also the economy gets out of whack for months when you make these type of changes
What are the vetrans supposed to do now for fun if we dont need to collect organics to make bios, dont fight bosses cuz of the long walks, or build another house...Retire?

Re: Organics!
Hehe, I seem to be following your threads Electra.. ^.^
Once again, you make a valid point. I, myself, don't currently own a bio, and certainly don't intend to anytime soon. Frankly, for the time/money invested into making one, with the chances of it failing anyway.. it's absolutely pointless. Unless you're a vet with millions of gold for chump change, then you might as well just forget about it imo.
The Felucca ordeal is completely OT and less than desirable for me to discuss.. but your point about not being able to use bios that well in Fel, does kinda irk me a bit. Doesn't make sense to make a bio virtually unobtainable to a player less than 8 months to a year (unless you devote 24 hours a day), then to turn around and handicap the whole system..

Re: Organics!
I agree with this plan..i understand bio pets are truley a luxury..and by all rights should be because of their strengths...I just started trying it and it is very expensive and makes alot of ppl just give up...maybe also with the fail bios we create by bad dna give the option to turn them into so many organics or get deed alone back maybe.. i rly like the random drop of them very good idea.
It seems to me that the current problem was created by forcing a bottle-neck to control the supply of organics. Changing this system to establish a different bottle-neck is likely to merely create new and different problems as people try to find a way around the limitation. That's why I think the best idea is to not bottle-neck the supply of organics, but diffuse it...
Just give every mob a 20% chance to drop 1-5 organics. This favors the newbies, who tend to hunt larger quantities of easier mobs (ie, at Despise I and II or in the woods---or for that matter, in the Newbie Dungeon). I've seen this work on other shards, but don't expect prices for organics to drop too much. 80-120 each is what I've seen before, and the economy here is richer than most I've experienced. After all, bios are the ultimate luxury item and intended to act as a gold sink.
I like this idea! Well, as long as we can get the [claim command to auto loot the organics (not sure if they do now or not as I don't actively hunt for them).
Excellent solution!
