I think tmap treasure chests are more of a challenge than dungeon chests yet they seem to have weaker treasure in them.
So, I was wondering if it was possible to boost up the tmap treasures like dungeon treasures are. That is add chances for low use garg tools, oints ect...
Maybe I have not done enough yet but the tmap treasures i have gotten so far are pretty weak. Other than the gold some lockpicking exp and maybe some regents the rest is pretty much token bag fodder. It is fun and a challenge to work up through the different lvls of maps but there is really little to keep you doing the lvls once you have completed them a few times and moved up to higher lvls.

You know I was just recently thinking the same thing. I just toss all the maps in the trash unless they are lvl 5 then I just toss those in a chest and someday hope to do them all.

Yeah... its a shame because its a pretty cool concept but I think it mostly gets written off as a waste of time.

ye i agree its a shame their *treaure* isnt better and its only the lvl 6 that are being done and only because of the minor arty,you cant even say you do em for the challenge (maybe on public servers but not here)
on public servers the lower maps are only worth doing because the metal items have decent meltback when turned into ingots
asmuch i like to see them change i think its to much work for our staff to recode it
but what if we could have a new type of t map instead? wouldnt that be easyer to code? (i have no idea myself)

* this should be kinda rough as you could get 4 dark fathers when you pop the chest
i dunno if its possible to make chest loot in a new type of map better than the others ,if its not possible then its ok because atleast this map would be fun todo
this will make old maps usefull again and same item take alot of items off the server
t hunt will be interesting again and also give an ok challenge
this type of map will also promote teamwork

Rune - I am really not asking for them to recode anything really. Just maybe add some stuff to the drop table.
One problem I see about your ideas is that lvl 7 would just be the new lvl 6. Yes people who have made it to lvl 6 would be able to trade in maps for lvl 7 maps. But what about the people who are unable to do the higher lvl maps?
I think the maps that we already have just need a small boost in the drop table.

people that cant do the higher maps can still have good fun on the other maps
im just saying this could be a way to make intersting for t hunters be they fresh players or more settled players
every map would be worth it again be it for diggin right now or save up to a turn in on higher maps
imo its better than they sit in chests and collect dust like now

Dont take me wrong I do think the idea of finding pieces of a treasure map instead of a full treasure map is a cool idea.
But with out doing anything to make the lower lvl maps worth doing you are still just setting it up to only have the higher lvl maps actually dug up.

mostly yes but while people are still training, the lower maps are still good for that and will keep being good after they grow out of em ,cause they can turn in their lower maps to ones that fit the players lvl of play.

Yes but there really would be no reason to trade up from a 1 to 5 other than to get the 6-7 maps. Because 1-5 maps don't do anything but give you more of the useless stuff.
If they simply added a few attractive things in the drop table then the current maps would be more appealing to all. The chance could be pretty slim since the higher the chest the more 'tries' it gets at picking the items.
In time maybe they could get more elaborate but for now I would like to keep the scope of this thread on the original subject so maybe it could be discussed and considered.

Agreed dont have to redo the entire tmap system. Just boost lvl 5 and 6 tmaps loot tables a bit. 10 min change, wham bam thank you mam

The thing that made the higher lvl boxes better was that they gave more stuff so there was more chances to get something good. Does our system work like this? If so then why not throw some stuff in the drop table to make these maps special?

I agree with you amadman.. wholeheartedly.. The entire system needs a bit more incentive.. I used to be an avid Tmapper, but after coming to Excelsior, with the way the in-game economy is.. Tmaps are virtually worthless.. so I gave up on em altogether..
Couple flaws with the other ideas:
Lvl 7 TMap: Only issue with this is.. is the scripting of a new one.. along with adding the new lvl 7 to the loot tables of everything that typically drops TMaps.. extremely time consuming.. Plus, it leaves 1-6 at a disadvantage.
Boost lvl 5 & 6 only: Well.. as amadman has so kindly pointed out.. that would pretty much alienate the use of 1-4.. period..
I saw mention of hunting for pieces of maps.. which sounds pretty nifty.. I'd like to see more ideas on the concept of it.. ^.^

There are already enough things on this server that benefits vets only, as well as systems that benefit only those that can allot 6+ hours a day.. With my line of work, my availability is limited during the busier times of the year.. which leaves me in a bind, as I'm unable to experience things like crafting a bio, or completing the mage's unquisition.. the thing I've come to realize, is if you're not a vet and don't have a crap ton of time to invest, you might as well just come to terms with being a nobody for the next year on Excelsior..
In short.. leave the Tmaps as they are except for the loot.. in the words of amadman.. "give em a boost".

As for the parts of a map thing.. I was trying to say that I liked Runes idea in the way that it was like combining pieces of maps to make the complete treasure map.

Yeah... i thought about posting it on the features request area. But the readme stated that such requests should be posted here instead:
'Any request such as "please make a certain monster to drop more loot" isn't supposed to be posted here. You may post such a comment in the general forum (and don't forget to add good arguments to it).'
So I was hoping that this thread would draw up enough discussion to get them to notice it and possibly consider the idea.
Or at least let us know why they feel it would be a bad idea or cant be done.
