Luck and ability points a pet gains from leveling
Ok I have a simple question: Are the amount of ability points your pet gains when he or she levels affected at all by your characters luck? For that matter, is there anything you can do to increase the amount of ability points your pet gains on average or is it just totally random? Thanks!

It's just random, every time your pet levels it gets a random amount of points. Your character's luck won't make it any more, and there's no other way to increase the number of points you get per level.

Coli does pet ability points really have to be gotten this way ? *a roll with the dice*
altho i enjoy our pet system and have loads of fun with breeding up odd pets for myself only
i just cant stand the *chance* crap and would be more happy with em getting same points each lvl instaed of 1-80ish random
predicable yes..some may say boring

Random is good. Keeps things unique and unpredictable. Everything doesn't have to be fast and in a formula where you can map it out from the very beginning. In my opinion, chance can be frustrating at times, but is more rewarding when it works out better than you could have planned or hoped for!

I have a feeling that the ability point system is seen like, having the animal's entire developmental life flash before you lol. I think that's why the randomness happens. It's like, each pet has a chance that maybe they had a perfect developmental period or something, so they may get like, really high AP, but maybe another one had pneumonia and asthma for half the time, so he has about half way decent AP, or maybe one was scared of everything and gets really low AP.
I know it's so elementary to think of it this way but this is how I can picture the AP system now making sense in a RP kinda way.

Well could also make it so that it gains let's say 3 points per level, but i think some unpredictability is good.
Keep in mind that the pets here gain their levels a lot faster than it was initially designed. Would otherwise take you, probably hours or maybe days to level it all the way up.

Aye, the system was actually changed for 2.0 so that you could NOT level your pet say on a trainer, in the new system, the pet levels on kill only, and it DOES take days and weeks to get a pet leveled to max..
Whoever created the system originally did a horendously pitiful job of it, that or they just never finished the system.. as it was released, with time a shard could be totally flooded with max pets, as there is no "max" breeding level, no limit on how many babies they can have etc etc... horrible horrible release. Coli has done what this system needed to make it usable without destroying a shard, and still kept it fun and enjoyable without making it so horribly long and hard that no one uses it... as in some other shards I have seen. I downloaded that script, and was totally horrified by it...
I would like to see Coli fine tune what he has masterfully repaired....... but considering how it was originally released, be VERY GLAD he has it set up the way it is...
