Pet follow speed

Post by Elron »

Pets are slower than humans, that's unnatural, how about if they could keep up with us

I'll agree to that... Especially since I'm old fashioned and still like using packies. =)

Trying to move large quantities of items between two places with 4-5 packies is excruciatingly slow.

So, I vote "aye" for this!

This would be very very nice to have implemented.

It's been requested before... The thing is, if I change their walking speed, they will also hit harder. This could be avoided with extra coding to increase just their walk speed, not just the attack speed. The code linked here increases their overall speed, depending on how fast the player is moving. Which if i put in, if you have a strong pet and are also mounted on a horse, if you run circles around it, it will attack twice as much.

Pets are already sort of too powerful here, so this upgrade won't go in. If you have to walk a few screens with your pack of nobles for example, then that's one compromise for their strength. And you can also shrink them if it's a long run.

Too bad the script is setup that way, clearly that is not a good option. Thanks for commenting and letting us know +Colibri.

Actually thinking about it further it only changes the "follow, Come & guard"commands, simply don't include the section in the guard & it'll only work for follow & come

A quote from A_Li_N a few posts down on main page

No, I only changed follow, come and guard. Any attack will put it back to default speeds. .....

Well now, with that being said above; I see no reason why this couldn't be implemented.

One thing Colibri should do; is gather a few testers who are willing to test new scripts for him after they are added to a separate server of course.

He could do that with just his home PC with rather sub-par hardware without any issues. I think it would, at the least, help alleviate any worries in scripts becoming a problem.

I for one, would be willing to test them. I usually do that on my own time anyway.

He could prolly just make a "super shrink" potion to allow for shrinking while there is stuff in the packs. I'd make them cost 20k + . hehe. Then you could move things from one place to another with out much of a cost. But the average dungeon cralwer could use them in a pinch and not feel to totally guilty.
