BoD book

Post by Ishamael »

I recently restocked my BoD book on vendor Moridin in Makato Zento, I forgot to reset the "Not for sale" tag, and someone bought the book for 999. It had 97 BoDs in it. Would someone please be honest and cool and let me get that back, I will give a 500k reward for it. Please, I have been collecting those for more than a month! I know it is my fault, but you had to know you were taking advantage. Please, let me get my book back!

I'm hoping the person will come forward and give it back as they saw it as an honest mistake, failing that I am happy to chip in 100 k to the save the BOD fountain too

Very true Undertaker!

Sadly, it's a strong possibility that they do not. The only other thing that could be done is to have staff investigate the matter. However, in this case, I'm almost positive that Ishamael would be charged for the service, which would cost him roughly 110 EDs, and assuming they still sell for 40k per; that's about 4.4 mill.

I guess the next best step, honestly, would be to bring it to the attention of staff and see if he will be charged for the service. Apparently; either this person does not use the forum, or does not wish to come forward. :displeased:

Sorry to burst your bubble, but, If it's put on the vendor mistake or not if its for sale, its for sale.... I couldn't see the staff getting involved because its not like someone has taken it from the ground or anything... and I would think the service you are talking about is for stuff you lose i.e. if you get killed and lose items.

I do hope the person does come forward for you though, And respect that it was a mistake, and that they wouldn't even accpet the 'reward' I think of players at Excelsior better that.

Good luck, I'm not trying to be nasty just giving an insight of a different view.

Aye, the item could be considered "for sale"; but would you really be saying that if you had invested that kind of time and effort into that book? Doubtful.
Regardless of how you feel about it; or what "rules" may apply here; the person who purchased that book did so under the pretense of greed. Anyone with a shred of common sense would know that a BOD book filled with dozens of BODs, is not going to be sold for 999gp.
I see nothing wrong with staff checking into who bought the item and questioning if they're willing to return the book for a reward. If indeed they cannot be "forced" to return it; I still see no harm done in finding out who did to see if the problem can be rectified.
It's not as though we're asking to find out who it was; it is highly unlikely that staff would release the name; we're all aware of the "privacy policy". But asking this person if they'd own up and return it is the right thing to do. For this kind of reward? Why not?

Just an FYI Orbit, it hasn't even been 24 hours yet. I'm not going to chime in on the "morality" question, because I agree with portions of both sides.

Ishamael, good luck!

Awfully close; the issue isn't the length of time. The issue is that someone purchased that BOD book instead of PMing Ishamael and informing him of his error in pricing.

However, that could just be the fact that I have morals; and that I would never put that sort of time into BODs without knowing for sure it was worth it.

Either way; I just hope that whomever bought it; either returns it, or we find out that they did so to prevent someone else from taking advantage of something like that.

As Efanchenko_MM pointed out; we'd like to think of the player base here at Excelsior, as being better than greedy and ignorant.

I have found the Players and staff here to be very generous, and fair. I is a good chance that maybe they don't read the forums, but this is a nice reward being offered up, and again I thank everyone who has offered to help. It's one of those stupid mistakes, like not locking down a chest. Something to learn from. I should have been more careful, but I was distracted with other things. All in all, I still love this shard and it's players.

I don't think anyone questions your resolve, friend.

Honest mistakes happen; but it's nice to have honest people who can point them out if necessary. I cannot count the number of times I've mistakenly priced something much cheaper than it was meant to be; or the times I've over-priced things. I can imagine someone's shock that I was charging 75 mill for a 75k Power Scroll!

Let's just hope we can get this fixed for you. Have you bothered asking staff whether you would be charged for them to find out who purchased the book; in the event they never come forward?

i've done the vendor stupid before too. one time on a mistake i threw all my gold stacks (60k) about 10 stacks i threw on a vendor then someone yelled for help and i left. lol someone made some really good money that day. nothing like 600k for 10k right? trust me i've learned not to do that anymore. :P also, i don't do animal taming bods, because i'm mad lazy, but i have an assortment of animal taming bods from small 10 to small 20's and large bods 10-20's. only have 55 bods in them. they are yours if you don't get your other one back.

I posted a message to the GMs when it happened, but my questions was never answered. I can only assume that means they cannot help. maybe I will hear back from them today.
