Before I comment further, I invite +Colibri to comment and/or alter any part of this message if I missed the mark in any way shape or form.
As a citizen of the United States who is also passionate about the right of free speech, I understand the drive to let it be known how you feel about someone or something. However, I say the following with the rules of this shard in mind:
From the codex:
2. Language:
a. Keep chat clean - no cussing, arguing, harassing, etc. .
6. Behavior, attitude towards other players:
a...b...
c. No drama. Accept the things you cannot change. If you are in an unresolvable conflict, be the smart one and walk away. Keep the private problems out of public chats, send a private message instead.
d. If you are in a situation with another player that won't go away by itself, don't go make it worse for yourself by doing something against the rules. Let the staff know, we have experience with this.
This is not the USA. Regulation of speech here is the price everyone pays for playing on a shard with anonymity and under guidelines that focus on keeping the peace between players and cultivating a warm environment for all. Since playing here is a choice among many choices, regulating speech and what is considered good behavior is something +Colibri can do, and has the right to do. Our rules against blacklisting, harassing, and harsh language are rules that can easily be followed while playing on the shard. These are not carried over to any other activity of your life, so these rules are not forcing or overbearing.
More to come soon...locking for now.
(Later that day... =D )
Okay...I got nothing. One cup of coffee and a meeting later, and I still don't have the drive for a long and on-and-on-and-on point. I was going to type out a long and elaborate post, but quite honestly…this is too stupid to put a lot of effort into. I will, however, conclude with this:
Internet arguing has no winner...Ever. When there is a situation where both sides are mad and insulted, nobody can say anything right to the other person. What would "winning the argument" look like anyway? The other side getting pissed and stops answering, and the people who were watching the argument see your bad side? Internet attacking always has the opposite effect the instigator was expecting. Walking away from a never ending argument does not signify a loss, it simply shows that you can think more than 5 minute ahead of yourself...and realize that it takes less energy and time out of your life to walk away. Anger and hate use energy and brainpower, why not "nothing" someone and end it there? Done deal! Your opinion matters absolutely nothing to me, allow me to demonstrate...*crickets chirping*
On that note, follow the rules. This shard does not operate under the constitution of the U.S., it operates under its codex. Sure, you can say what you want to say. But, don't be surprised if what you say gets you into trouble. We don't ask too much from you guys here, so please follow the rules. Or, accept the consequences that come from not following the rules. I can't say it any other way.
