Yard wand issues

Post by Ceara »

Well, the main page of the Yard wand says I can use 10 spaces in front, back and side for the yard. I assume "spaces" to be defined as the small squares/tiles easily seen in grid formation on the ground.

So I decide I want a garden on the side of the house. I make the plans and begin placing tiles. As you can see, the cube stone skirting the house foundation went in well, then the first row of the "garden."

I begin to place the next row, and it tells me I'm outside of my yard. I'm in the house, as it says to be. I go check to see if there's enough gold in the bank, and there is for a couple of tiles.

I also discovered with the yard wand that you are unable to place the tile and receive the same error message as posted above about it being "outside of your yard" when 3 tiles away.

For example, after creating these screenshots, I removed them to replace at the front of the house. Was standing W/E and had to move the character continually as I placed the tiles along the front part of the house. If I attempted to place the tile a couple of squares ahead, I would receive the message "out of your yard." But then if I moved the character forward, I was then able to place the tile.

So this is what I think is happening for the side of the house. The area I originally tried to build the garden in and began seeing errors, is falling under the same situation.

With the yard wand, we are told the character has to be in the house to place the tiles. OK I can accept/understand that part. (To clarify, the yard wand itself says you "CAN" be in the house to place tiles. But if you were to step outside your house and try to place tiles, an system error message appears saying you "MUST" be in your house.) But if you look at the screenshots, where my character is standing is the last tile of the foundation, with the cube perimeter in tile 1, the first row of dirt tiles is tile 2, and the third row of dirt tiles would have been tile 3. The way it seems to stand (at least for my house), even though the character is standing inside the house and cannot place beyond as the yard wand states (10 spaces).

I should note I have two 18x18 GM joined. One side of the house I cannot place more than 2 squares from the house foundation, but in the other part of the house, I am able to add 4 tiles from the house in the front and no more. Anything attempted after that says it's outside of my yard.

I know the staff is mega busy, but could you please look at this?

It's not an issue, I think it got changed quiet awhile ago now (But the desription hasn't been changed since)

4 tiles infront of your house to 2 tiles at the side of the house.

See examples: standing at the front would give you 2 tile either side up to 4 tiles out, and standing at the side of your house you will get up to 4 tiles either side of where you are standing going 2 tiles deep. the coloured squares are how many you get where you are standing so if you don't understand my writing you should understand the pictures.

example 3 if you stand on the steps (or where they should be if sunk) you can go out an extra tile.

Ah ok, thanks for the nifty diagrams!

I did not know it was changed, and as you can see the Yard Wand itself still reflects 10 spaces.

I will just redesign house altogether now since I can't use the yard wand as it shows on the front page.
