I like this idea would be alot of fun
HACKSAW
It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.

I could see interest in this area. I mean tamers would have to (shock gasp) TAME stuff to raise taming and things like dragons and white wyrms would be worth something. Since you wouldn't be able to breed up, you would have to tame tough pets out of the wild. No Power Scrolls would put real limits on what you could do. Though I would suggest 1 npc to buy starter armor from at least until someone can craft armor. Or maybe free newbie armor? Otherwise you got everyone running around with nothing and dying every few seconds. I mean its hard to kill a bloody mongbat if you have no strength or armor or weapon or healing or ANYTHING... I can still remember my early days on osi hanging out at graveyards trying to get my skills up enough to survive against skeletons :o)

I totally agree this would be a way to make crafting actually work again though but if no one can have spellbooks until someone works up inscription high enough to make them for example its gonna be a LONG hard road. All the resources will be hard to get but nobody will really have a lot of gold to buy them...could be real interesting...ie GMing smithing would be real tuff. I mean just to get STARTED you need ingots and smith hammer or tongs... Nobody is strong enough to carry much. No pack animals...

As far as pets go, no brushes so no shrinking of pets... and a lot harder to bond them. I guess feeding them could still work to bond them.

PROBABLY the best way to jumpstart it is each person picks a craft ie a miner a smith a tailor and such and they all pool their resources. The scribe gets all the blank scrolls looted, the smith gets the ingots, the tailor gets the leather. Then again you need a tinker just to make tools for other crafters and they use some of the same resources as other crafters. Getting regs will be a major pita not only for mages but for alchemists and scribes too...I figure to make alchemy viable the potions better last a bit longer than usual. Getting your ore somewhere to smelt it just got a LOT harder for miners too. But crafting will have to be a priority. No crafters means no equipment for the players. Makes it hard though that some crafts only make stuff for other crafters like miners and lumberjacks.

I could see archery being real popular but yeah making your own arrows is time consuming. Barding will be just a tad popular too. Anything to keep the monsters from ripping your guts out several times an hour.

It would be pretty much a revision to a brand new old style osi shard. Granted I never played on a brand new osi shard but if nobody has anything then yeah that's how it pretty much has to work.

I certainly hope there are healers...but up to staff of course. I have played on shards with no wandering healers, its ok as long as there are other people around able and willing to rez you...

As for pets if its ridable you could just log out riding it, if its not that would be a problem. I could see a potential for a pet corral beside your house. As long as your pet is in the corral it doesn't go wild and doesn't count against your pet slot count...

You could always make shrink potions or leashes into monster loot.

Speaking of loot, until a few players get to the point of crafting decent GM weapons and armor, looted items will be a lot more marketable. Even bone armor items are better than no armor at all...

As for cloning Fel I think it would be easier to just make a new shard with no npcs. Could call it Excelisior Retro. Then it could have a bank because it would be totally sep. from current shard and bank. You go to login and see 2 choices Excelsior and the other shard...I am pretty sure either way you gotta do monster spawns when setting up the shard or new area for current shard...so there is a lot of work for staff reguardless. But I DO like the basic idea.
