The Approaching Shadow: In Preparation (10th Entry)
Re: The Approaching Shadow: In Preparation (10th Entry)
Maybe use the bracelets of binding to move fast behind the enemie lines and back... and also the possibility of hiring guards at jhelom, use them as bate or meat!!!
For the tactics part, im all for a stand at the castle, but might wana think about placing a few boat on the river up north to block them off in case some decide to sneak in by boat.
But lets not forget that the pass is a good place to make an initial stand, their numbers wont matter since it is narrow. But thats only if they come that way.

Re: The Approaching Shadow: In Preparation (10th Entry)
We need to keep all focus of our purchases units/structures behind the bridges. We'll start the fight at the front, kill the first few waves, get overwhelmed, then retreat. Our main focus will be holding NW Brit, the healers, inn shop, lil past the bsmith, and the mage shop. Forces will come over the 5 bridges, 3 which can be neglected defending directly (top north and bottom south two).
We set our defense along this perimeter: 25, 19, E, 12, C, 17, 36. They'll be coming from the sea so we should avoid going near LBs castle, or whatever the one not in brit is. This limits the amount of fronts we fight on; advancing units from the graveyard get stopped before the blacksmiths, those advancing from the northern bridge meet our resistance at the Mage Shop/2nd bridge. We forget about the bottom two bridges, instead holding the line with a buttload of guys at C, 17 and 13.
We'll need a group to be at 36, most important place, for if they come thru the bottom bridges, they'll goto 2 spots; past the bank and straight to our stronghold, or towards the inn, where we have a lot of guys ready for them (c, 17, 13). Needs to be a tight, well-knit group defending 36, just north of brit bank, by the tinkers.
Roofs: E, C (E - Mage shop is crucial point to hold, C - goes along the perimeter, best spot)
Ankh stones: 20, 38 (20 - Central, best spawn point, 38 - Last hold)
Simple walls: 11, 12, 36 (11 - Helps hold this bridge as long as possible, we lose the inn, we need to full on retreat or gy/mage gets flanked, 12 - Helps hold 1/2 of mage, 36 - Our flank. Needs to be here)
U-Walls: 6, 30 (Both are great for the end of a bridge, limits to a few getting thru, archers can sit inside and shoot before retreat)
Bottlenecks: 13, 26 (13 - Main fight. Cannot lose the bridge/inn if GY and mage are still holding, 26 - Secondary flank, must hold until mage shop falls at least)
Archer Wall: 17 or 37 (17 - will be a focal point of the battle for a long time, would be beneficial to have some people just mowing things down, 37 - Last hold, best tower)
Archer Towers: 19, 27, 17/37 (19 - Catches stragglers from GY and northern bridge/guys on boats that sneak between Youth Center and Mage shop. Failsafe if Bsmith falls, 27 - Failsafe if bsmith falls, coupled with previous spot, 17/37 - Wherever the Archer Wall ISNT put, this goes)

Let me know what you all think, C, D, E, G all seem good spots to me. I dont know how well/how many guys we can put on a tower, but if we threw all ranged on mage shop, that would handle a lot of pressure, or put some guys at G, to help bsmith. D an okay option, can't reach the bridge to the south, great spot for the north, however. I'm just not sure how beneficial the mage shop is, depends on the heroes we buy - we cant get people up there, and its a longe range, prolly cant attack

I am loving this set up!! I will mark runes for all the blue spots so I can port through all those support positions and also mark the bottle necks so I can fly down there if those area's seem to get heavy :) I am wondering if we will need any boat patrols out there to get a heads up of possible water way invasion?

I really like the set up too, especially the archers on building B. I was wondering if any of our defensiv structures could be used to completely block access because some of those bridges are pretty narrow. Also for each group of fighters, we need to have someone who's sole job is to heal and resurrect. I think we'll hold up against them longer before falling back.
Re: The Approaching Shadow: In Preparation (10th Entry)
Yeah, B would be a GREAT spot to put some guys, theyll always be going. not sure how long they would last tho.
This will also be in fel brit, so no runes :P
I may attempt to put together some groups, if they come from all sides at once, we'll need at least 7 groups, 3 heavy, 3 light, 1 that roles around for support. Was gonna see if some guilds wanted to act as an entire squad, they can work out their own healers, tanks, etc. Talk to your guilds, see what they like/think

Re: The Approaching Shadow: In Preparation (10th Entry)
Our first fight will be to the NE of Spot 3. I propose our main force of units meet the enemy at this front, save a few scouts to check for the graveyard/swamp invaders. I assume +V will give us a "Oh noes, they're coming from the west now!", so we'll need to make sure we have groups assigned and that we don't all run to the same place. If not, we'll appropriate our units.
The first, main fight will take place in the open so it won't take long for our ranks to fall. Once we break, retreat to Spot 3. It is a U-Wall and perfect for the advancing masses. We'll hold Spot 3 as long as we can, in which we then break off into groups: Building B Group, Mage Shop Group, Graveyard Group.
Building B Group: As we begin to lose Spot 3, this group will stay in Eastern Brit, defending the two bridges next to B, as well as stopping forces from advancing to the two southernmost bridges. This is the most heavily fortified spot, has the most advantageous building and is crucial to our defense; the longer we hold Building B, the longer we prevent the enemy from taking control of southern Brit (if we lose southern Brit, we need watch our flanks at Spt 36)
If/when we begin to lose Building B, this group will slowly retreat across the bridges, towards the inn and eventually converge and stand ground at the healers. Building C is a GREAT archers perch for players (NPC's are best off elsewhere, dunno if they move, etc).
Mage Shop Group: Shouldn't be as hectic as Building B will be, but is definitely the most difficult to defend. Unsure how many Umbris will head straight across the top bridge, depending on pathing, so we may need more men here. Combined with a potential boat attack and/or leaks from the Graveyard assault may add further complications. Main forces will hold at Spot 5 (bridge duty), with a reserve at Spot 16 (boat and/or GY duty). If/when we begin to lose ground here, this group slowly retreats towards Spot 19 and holds there.
Graveyard Group: Should be the easiest spot to defend. I'd recommend starting Spot 25 and slowly retreating back to Building G. This spot should be held the entire match, or at least until the other two groups have been pushed back towards the healers.

Here's a little .gif that shows you how/where people would fall back to and how it coincides with others retreats. Yellow is the main force at start/Building B group, Blue is Mage Shop Group, Green is GY Group.
I didn't include anything for Spot 36, we'll see if we need people there when the time comes.
Beneath are the PRESUMED attack routes the enemy will follow, as well as a diagram of where our towers should be placed.

Re: The Approaching Shadow: In Preparation (10th Entry)
i'm just curious does anyone have any sort of battle strategy sense?
Re: The Approaching Shadow: In Preparation (10th Entry)
none at all
@Devlin,
I do not think it would be such a good idea to put the ankhs all the way across the city from each other. I understand that you think 4 would be a good spot since it would allow people on the outskirts to res up but I would think it would likely be better to make a more condensed stand instead of trying to spread out too thin. so 17 would probably be a better spot (instead of 4) imo

Re: The Approaching Shadow: In Preparation (10th Entry)
I thought 17 would be best, its central to everything... but the healers are still there in fel, 17 iis directly next to the healers. 4 gves us rezzing for the main battles for a long time
Anarchy, I have some xp leading battles etc. Led some of the best premade avs in wow, also owned a large rebel base on swg, my guild and I kicked arse there. I'm a history buff and love strategy based things
