A faster way to gain training, albiet more expensive, is to buy/borrow some +taming jewelry and buy a brush from a Tamer, or breeder NPC and craft your taming skill up to a level you can control mules. On a side note, you can have a mule with less than 75 taming, but it will not listen to you. When you dismount it, you can get it to follow you by "slapping it around" EG. Disarm yourself, go into war, and attack the pet. it still won't listen to you, but now it will follow you when you dismount it, for a while.

A good place with some decent rewards id The Solen Quest String. You can win Bags of sending, bracelets of binding, and pet summoning balls in the hives, and on the quests. You can also win Translocation powders for charging the previously mentioned items. A bag of sending sends a single item, or a single stack of an item, not a container, to your bank from anywhere in the world. Bracelets of binding can be bound together so that, when worn by 2 parties, dbl clicking one that's charged will move that person clicking to the other person, provided both bracelets are worn. pet summoning balls are just that... they are good to keep in your bank in case you lose a pet. it will bring it to you dead or alive, if it's a bonded pet =] To bond a pet, either buy a pet bonding deed from the token stone in trinsic (there's an item for those tokens you been saving) or feed it, and either stable, or shrink it for 7 days, and feed it again.

BoD's are Bulk Order Deeds. They're basically wholesale orders from NPC's for shop items. You can collect them from Carpenters, Blacksmiths, Tailors, Fletcher/bowcrafters, and Tamers. To fill small orders, just make what they ask for. Large Bulk order deeds require filled small deeds to become filled.

I am horrible at explaining things, I hope that this answered questions without causing too many more to happen all at once :P

How does one get a large BOD? so far ive only received small orders?

and where can i start/find the solen quest string place?

Im still curious about the Powerscrolls tho... i saw someone selling a 120 one for 500k... which i can eventually get to, haha. but im still wondering if i have to do it in steps, ie 105, 110, 115 then 120, or can i just the 120 and improve it myself?

Again, thanks for all the hints...

Large Bod you get it from the same NPC (tailor, blacksmith, bowcrafter, animal trainer, carpenter) but it's random...

Solen Quest at --> Public Portal --> Trammel Dungeon --> Solen Hive ( you must talk to the Solen Queen for one quest and the other quest is for the Queen wannabe... just explore around :goodsuprise: )

You can use any powerscroll... doesn't have to go by levels...you can jump from 100 to 120... or 110... or 115..

most skills require you to have over a certain amount before you can get LBODS for that specific craft.

I completely agree that this shard is extremely friendly, when i played like 10 years ago, no one would even talk to you IN game, let alone help you.

and thanks to everyone who is helping me out here, im basically using the same thread so that i can come back and read on things that become useful as i progress. so far im just trying to solo and try to improve skills before i venture into more fun things.

I have definitely been taking in all this info... never realised this game was so complex, hehe.

I will keep on posting questions in here, saves people the reading space in game (i still ask, but not as much, haha).

All the best

New Questions, as per usual.

I have just collected 300k, but they are all in 100k checks, is there a way to put them all together? Do i have to put all the gold into my bank and then get the banker to do the checks or is there a better way of combining?

Also, I have reached a month in shard time and have been given an award. Im not sure about this as i asked in game but didnt quite understand the answers. Do i take the reward as it is for being a month on the shard, or do i save it for when i get older and get a better item? Or is a reward a reward and not cumulative?

Hope all that makes sense, cheers

I am more new player here, so I dont know about that reward, I have 24 days maybe. But about combining things, for example checks or uses on shovels, fletcher tools, carpentry hammers, smithy hammers... it is good to use exex. You just put it into that box and then withdraw again. In case of money, it sends to bank in check. But I dont know, whats the biggest possible amount in check. I heard, that reason for mythril ingots on gold stone is to store millions of gold in this commodity. 8)

Thanks naihonn, im going to try out that once i get money again, i just bought something from the vendors so gotta collect more money now.

im still curious about the one month reward thing? has anyone taken up this offer? or do you wait till you are better and take an offer (cumulative rewards, if they exist) (once again, i hope that this question makes sense).

im also interested in bows: where can some good bows be bought and how would i be able to tell if they are worth getting 'levelled'? (since i know leveling a weapon is expensive). and while im there, when you buy a deed for leveling a weapon, is there a limit on what level your weapon can reach, etc?

the last, which i think is going to be my goal for the next month, is, for 120 taming (still have my skill ball), what is a fair price? and what does 120 taming effectively give you?

Thanks again for all the help, and i hope im not clogging the newbie question space, hehe. :-)

If you are referring to the Vets Rewards that is awarded when you reach a certain 'play time or maturity time', then yes it's cumulative and you don't have to choose anything until you get better rewards. Mostly you will get dye tubs (leather, furniture, runebooks, etc...), then robes/cloaks of different resist, monster statuettes, and ethy rides... the only thing worth claiming IMO are the different dye tubs and when you reach a year on the shard then you can claim a Charger of the Fallen.

Good bows can be found on player vendors or as drops... from minor and major Tokuno arties (Hanzo or Horselord), to crafted by Legendary bowyer players, to (3X / 4X / 5X) 36% 46% 58% from mobs. Leveling depends on what you got on hand and what's your play style since everyone in EX is unique.

Leveling depends on what type of bow/wep you got... Tokuno's Hanzo and Horselord you get 5pts per level, with crafted and arties you get 3pts, and dropped weps you get 5pts per level as well... therefore they are the best for leveling (IMO).

Taming 120 goes from low 1mill to high 2mill.... seems that the median goes around 1.2 ~ 1.5 mill, and the advantage is that you can tame almost anything on the shard.

This is my knowledge of the shard on the 200+ days I have been on EX... anybody please feel free to correct me or add things that I might have missed/omitted/misled... also I encourage to read the EX Wiki... lots of good info there...a little outdated but still good.

Ok, the newb is at it again. this is going to be a biggie question session. so bear with me (its either this or clean the house... haha, hate not working in the morning, darn day shifts!)

1) how do i increase my tailoring? what are some good steps to take?
also, how do i get the material to create items. i know i need leather, but what about making cloth, etc? If someone can give me the basic rundown of how tailoring works that would be great.

2) im also interested in fletching/bowcraft in the same way? how do i produce shafts? (feathers are self explanatory). :-)?

3) ive finally reached 100 taming. ive seen many people with nobles around and they seem like a tasty treat to have fighting tough opponents. so, just to make sure, are they 150k per maxed noble or 250k per maxed noble?
With this in mind, would a combination of maybe 3/4 nobles and 1 mule be good (you know, so you can keep all your stuff :-))

4) im searching for a good 'base' bow that i can put a leveling deed on. Some people have said hanzo's bow is good and other that horselord is good. Can someone give me a rundown of what IS a good bow and what stats should i look for (btw, how do you get a horselord and hanzo? :-))?

Ok, that is all i can think of.
now that i have SOME skills the game is really becoming, ahh, addictive, hehe.
So, I do appreciate all the help i have recieved so far, its a great place when people are willing to stop and help you out.
Thanks again for all the info, eventually, ill be the 'former-noob' :-D

Truck,

There is a great website that has all this information already layed out for you! It is uo stratics. It can be found here http://uo.stratics.com/. This answers a lot of the basic in game questions you are asking about that stuff... Not that I don't like to help new players. I am just a firm believer in if you give a starving man a fish you feed him for one night. If you teach a starving man how to fish you will feed him forever. So the be best advise I can give you is to show you where to obtain the information you are looking for.

As far as fletching goes, or any training, Go to an NPC to buy up your skill to about 30. From there you should be past the point of making shafts. Since they take one board per shaft, it's just easier to buy arrows from the Bowcrafters or Provisioners. Make bows from there.

The Bows, Hanzo's and Horselord, are Tokuna Artifacts, Minor and Major, respectively. You win the Minor Artifacts by hunting in Tokuna. They will appear in your pack. After you collect Ten Minor Articafts, you can turn them in to some guy for a random Major Tokuna Artifact.

I can help you with direction on the bow question. Sadly I do not craft so I'm of no help there.

Do yourself a favor, do NOT level a hanzos or horselord. You will hear many people tell you differently but take a step back and think about it. The immediate, not well thought out answer is "duh you get 5pts per lvl on those two and only 3 on a crafted". Lets go through this.

What do you want on your bow?

99.9% of the time you will want all or most of the following at 40%+:

Mana Leech
Hit Lower Defense
Hit Spell (pref Lightning)
SSI

You MAY want:
Spell Channeling
Life Leech
Stam Leech
DI

I'll use my tastes but the specific props don't really matter, it's the desirability and intensities that do.

I'd like in the end to have:
8 Dex
8 Str
Mana Leech
HLD
LIghtning
Stam Leech
some SSI

Now you have two options.

Get a Hanzo's and lvl it.

Now I just ran out of points at lvl 100 and I have
8dex
8dtr
48 Lightning
48 mana Leech
20 SSI
and
50 di I didn't want
40 LL I didn't want
3 SR I could add later with EDs
and only 5 HLD

Weak...

Option 2:

Find a crafted bow that starts with:
40 Mana Leech
40 HLD
40 Stam Leech

Now that's only 3 props, easy to find one with 4 props for under 100k. I bought mine at 4x everything I wanted except hit spell for TWENTY THOUSAND GOLD and I found it in about 1 hour of searching vendors.

Now lvl that to 100 I end up with
8 dex
8 str
40 Mana Leech
40 Stam Leech
40 HLD
38 Lightning
20 SSI

Everything I wanted at or near intensities I needed and NOTHING I DON"T WANT. Keep in mind this is just a conservitive example. You could very well find or craft a bow with 40 ML, 40 SL, 40 HLD, 40 LIghtning and spend you points on bumping lightning to 60 + ssi + str/dex + DI if you need it. The options are limitless.

I payed the same, or a bit less or more depending on the bow you find.

See were I"m going with this?

Also, I used a very very conservative starting crafted bow. Heck I've seen crafted weapons that the only thing they needed added was the str and dex to be near perfect for me.

**All points and leveling caps were calculated using the weapon level planner so the numbers ARE accurate**

Now the third option is the "i need a perfect weapon" option. Wait months on end to loot or find some one selling a 5x58 weapon with the props you want, pay them the 1m-10m that they will want for it (or loot it yourself after 900000 peerless killed), lvl it, pay 200ed to change to Yumi and have your perfect weapon.

I'll let you choose from here ;)
