With enough time to play or if you donate, 20 is a very attainable number for new players. Only 200k and I made that doing 3 or 4 champs last night. This way you dont have the rich who sit upon millions and millions buying outrageous amounts of tickets, giving everyone more of a fair chance. Again 20 tickets is just a random number im throwing out there, the gms can set it to however many they feel is fair. :
Raffles were intended as a gold sink to help the economy, its important that players buy hundreds of tickets.

It doesn't matter how many tickets you buy in the raffle. It's all random

If you are worried thats its unfair for the rich...at the first of each month every single active account on the shard gets ONE account bound ticket. Then its a completely true lottery. It might be a newbie, or it might be a Scrooge McNel, or someone in between.

IF THEY WERE GONNA SET UP A NEW ONE FOR HOUSE DROPS ( and take away from the unrich players the chance at catching a house falling thus having to buy tickets instead of freely watching) then set a limit to still keep it fair. Current raffle for gold sink works, I know the purpose of them and again it was an idea for a NEW raffle setup. Meaning keep the ones we have already going but since house drops are for anyone at any level it should be kept that way. Lotto should be an EVEN chance for even the newbs. If you read posts very carefully you can pick up stuff like that. And yes its random but if you grab a bowel, put 100 tickets with amberlys name in it and 10 of "new player* Your really gonna tell me that I dont have a better chance at getting my name pulled out? lmao OK. sure. Just cause its random doesnt mean its absolutely fair, I dont have a problem with the raffle. Again sometimes people who buy 2 tickets win compared to the 1000 ticket buyer, but come on, in all reality if your buying up all the tickets and 10 other players are doing the same, chances are one of the top payers will win. Not FOR SURE win, just muchhhh better odds. And yea Kagan thats another method to make it an actual all around, no way anyone else has better chance solution.

I've often found, on most every MMO I've played, that there's a class of players that have more money than the rest.

It's also possible, with hard work, effort, and research, to get into that class. This is something that I think is often missed in "rich v. poor" arguments and dynamics on any games that involved player currency and interactions.

If you feel that you're in a class of people that don't have enough money to participate in things like grand auctions, you've just acquired an aspiration. We play most games in a goal-oriented way as people work towards greater things for their characters. While wealth isn't always someone's goal, they also should be careful not to complain when, having not made that a goal of theirs, the people that do end up having access to things they cannot themselves purchase.

I have no doubt that a level of "fairness" needs to be enforced in an MMO, otherwise the player base would certainly suffer as a result of it, but I do think that if you're one of those people who frequently thinks to themselves, "The rich people want everything handed to them." you could also benefit from adjusting your personal player goals a little more towards the wealth accumulation side of things.

On this shard, as in most MMOs, it's true that if you want it, you can have it - you just have to work for it.
