Okay. I'm quite tired of everyone asking for help running UOAM. Here are the fixes you need to do.
1. If you downloaded UOAM from ANYWHERE BUT uoex.net/codex, you have failed the test. As is says right next to the DOWNLOAD button, UOAM does not come with the .MAP packs, JUST THE .EXE. Personally, I cannot DL squat from the UOAM server anymore, so its likely dead, meaning you can't update. Meaning you have a shell of a program with no information in it. To fix this, download it from http://uoex.net/codex/technical/uoam. This comes with the .MAP packs.
2. Run as administrator. Doesn't matter what OS you're on, just do this.
3. If it isn't tracking you, Run Compatibility Mode back to Windows XP, SP 3 should do nicely.
OR
- Get a sextant
- type "-where" if you are running razor, this returns your coordinates. Then you must calibrate your UOAM with said coords.

Re: UOAM HELP
my uoam works but i wanted to track people and special things (spawners), but i've tried to link with ex using their ips and port. still no go on tracking friends.
do they need uoam to be working? sometimes i hear people on global who have died but they don't know where they are. i could input their name and it would normally show their location. know how to fix this? o.O thanks devlin

Re: UOAM HELP
From what i remember, everyone has to link to the server using the same port and password to see each other. It worked some time ago for me, But I've not been able to play recently, so i cannot be sure something hasn't changed. I remember we couldd link without a password and see whoever else did so also, or create a password so just your friends/guild could see each other/chat via UOAM.
Re: UOAM HELP
I tried a few times to log into the UOEX server and it didn't work. I don't think it's working, maybe they don't have the UOAM server running?Shotta wrote:From what i remember, everyone has to link to the server using the same port and password to see each other. Devlin, this is not true.Devlin wrote:If you downloaded UOAM from ANYWHERE BUT uoex.net/codex, you have failed this test, again. If a person has an older UOAM or one they procured else where outside of UOEX, then they can import the UOEX maps into UOAM. Run UOAM, go to "Map" and select "UO Client Data Files Location", and enter in the complete directory path of your UOEX location.
Please do not mock us in these forums. You have not authority to discern failure of others.
Re: UOAM HELP
Shotta is correct - everyone needs to be linked to see each other, UOAM does not track non-linked players.
I believe there was a problem with the linking as I couldn't do it for a long time, but recently (yesterday evening) it started to work without any problems. So for those who were having them: you might re-try now. And remember - port is 2000 not 60, like regular UO connection. I might also have something to do with the upgrades +Coli has been making and the associated server restarts - I can totally see +Coli forgetting to set up the UOAM server again after one or two of these.
I made my UOAM work using the method described by Trygg and it has been working ever since. I did not even know that UOEX has a ready-made package available.
Devlin - if you do not have the patience to give out information in a less condescending manner, then maybe you should avoid giving it out altogether? It's not like anyone is *forcing* you to respond to questions and provide explanations.

Re: UOAM HELP
If you're getting the black screen and want the geography layer to show up, this is what I did to alleviate the problem:
Open up UOAM and click the Map Tab up top, then click down towards the bottom where it says "UO Client data files location..."
On the popup window, uncheck the box and put the UO client location path instead. I don't know where everyone put their client folder when they downloaded it from the website but I will use mine as an example. In my case its: C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\Ultima Online - Excelsior Shard
After I did that, the geography layer showed up immediately.
To make sure I had the path spelled out correctly, all I did was open up my UO Excelsior folder and clicked up on the address bar to highlight, copy and then paste. (Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V are great!)

Re: UOAM HELP
first i understand a lot of what devlin's talking about. i hear people asking in global about everything. people need to take time read the information from wiki or other sources. i hear a lot of stuff like: how much taming do i need for a noble. constantly or what do i have to craft now at skill level 80. after a few years of answering questions or always having my pm's open for questions tends to get tedious at times. mchale has been working like a mad man on the wiki just go have people ignore the work because it's easier to ask in global. ah well we also have to remember everyone started somewhere.
