Luck
Luck
Just curious as to what people have to say on this; does being well-fed affect loot/drops?

Re: Luck
I never eat, an habit from my pvp days (need to be hungry to eat enchanted apples or any food to regain stamina).
I find myself to be very lucky for some drops (imp pets), but it's hard to evaluate overall because the intensity of the loot seems to often be adjusted (for an example, I used to get at least 1 "58s intensity weapon for every peerless a few years ago, now, I am lucky to see one "46s once in a while).
I doubt that there is a parameter to factor hunger into the intensity of the drops. Being hungry has always been pointed out for poor skill gains and crafting failures on OSI, but the devs confirmed that it had no effect there.

this is what i'm figuring out.
all drops are random. but with greater luck you get a top template, and you'll see less of the 3% and more of the 14-28%. 46% and 58% i think are a special loot item, which luck does not affect.
special loot items:
peerless summon keys
imprisoned pets
quest keys
raffles
slot machines
resource gathering
nor does it affect crafting at a certain luck. (i think it's really low like 100).
luck hugely affects the following:
Doom artifacts
Bio-engineering sampling only.
Tokuno artifacts
Paragon drops
Paragon chests
Crafting (very minimal)
this is what i'm figuring out.

Re: Luck
I'm not sure how luck affects a peerless' loot....
But i will say this. I have had luck from 1 all the way to 524 and pretty much got the so called good drops here and there.
What to factor in, however, is there are the so called luck steps, depending on the toughness of the monster being fought.
I've noticed from 1 to about 190 not much change in high end random drops, but after say 200 to about 239 I saw a change.
It's my belief that, once again, the monster's toughness or level, plus a certain range of luck will produce blah to good drops. I see more large gem drops off of mongbat's and orc's, for example, when i'm at at least 200+ luck. The same is true with dragons and earth elemental's at 350 luck....
For a mongbat the large gem is the best it can drop on its loot table here at Excelsior. But lets not forget the random luck table, which I believe exists as well.
Got some nice 3X 30% gear off of a mongbat once, right after it spawned, which left me wondering. Also I got an artifact reward drop for kill a peerless shadow wisp once as well.
All in all, as the name implies, you just have to be lucky; though having certain amounts of luck WILL help your chances.

Criticism is good because it improves upon what came before, and solidifies the strongest of foundations.
Re: Luck
Imagine luck as a modifier to a die roll on a die of whatever size, say D10 for sake of simplicity.anarchy wrote:http://uo.stratics.com/content/basics/luck.shtml

1-4: Low budget template
4-8: Medium budget template
9-10: High budget template
Roll the die, add your luck to the roll, this is the budget from which loot is generated. I'm on the move now, might expound more on the "budget" idea later. While the "adding a modifier to a die roll" may not be the exact math used I am about 98% sure this is the way luck effects your monster loot and I am also almost certain that a "budget" style system is used to distribute properties to items contained in loot.
Also, sup... Yea I need to log on lol
