The hoarding problem has been well documented, and is an aspect of inflation SnapOn, but it is far from the whole story. an interesting essay was written in the early days of UO.

I found the link, and decided to edit my post so people could find it easier. =)

Sounds great? But where is Seating Area 4 now? It's been several weeks and its still not back? A vet cries and it gets removed? =Super lame.

new players who cry about things on auction being so much, because they can't afford it; so they put the 20 + mil deco that was on auction in the deco room for 5 mil = super lame.

I'd be careful about taking so quick an issue with the decision to remove the auction item from the general population.

All players eventually become veterans given enough time and dedication, so whenever I start a new game, I do so with the understanding that eventually, I will have what "they" have, which are the current most experienced/wealthiest/best geared players. If I don't see a system in place that supports them and protects their investment of time and money, I'm a lot less inclined to try to play for those goals.

Whenever a game seems to be consistently diminishing the relative power of its endgame community, I'm very wary to play that game, because I do so running the risk that one day soon, that guy we're watching get screwed over could be me.

I think this type of thinking is constrained primarily to players that have played through and become successful in multiple MMOs, but it's something to which even the most inexperienced gamers among us should be able to relate.

I expressed my input in this thread, and also privately to Colibri. He liked my ideas, but he's been very busy. I suspect he probably removed the deco item on the thought that he'd put it back with the new pricing formula. But as we all know, Colibri is extremely busy; he probably hasn't had a chance to get back to that yet. Especially since +V and I have dropped a truckload of special requests on him lately for some special projects we're working on and the like.

From what I was told by +C the item will be in the next grand auction, but not returning to the deco room because it shouldn't have been retired since it was such a good gold sink item.

And I would also like to thank everyone personally who understood my feelings towards this matter. :D
