Question on BODS/Rewards

Post by Kryptik »

Hey guys/gals,

I am new to the shard. Played OSI from beta till just after AoS, but came back and loving this shard and learning a little more each day, which is how it should be. Never been one to rush things which is why I haven't hunted anything bigger than a Earth Ele heh. In time maybe, but in any case. My question is regarding BODs and the rewards. Is it possible to get non-crafted associated PS's or are they only Crafted type PS's? Meaning, would I have to do champs to get say (i.e- 120 animal taming Ps) or is that achievable as a reward through crafting?

Second question: Just starting out crafting, is it better to complete all SBods to turn in, or to save them to fill if I get a Lbod? As of right now I have been just saving them as to unsure which method is best or beneficial.

I kinda figured I would post here, since most of the time global is busy and lot of times my questions don't get seen. So I am sorry in advanced, but appreciate your help and recommendations. Thank you :)

Q1: Only by doing taming BODS can you get powerscrolls as a reward (animal lore, taming, veterinary only). For the other crafting powerscrolls you get them from killing 'master of arts' champions located in the fel facet. Check out the wiki for info.

Q2: Look on the wiki under bulk order rewards. I generally keep the ones that give rewards I'm interested in and either sell or complete the other small ones. When you turn in a BOD you can get another one (so turn in bad ones for a chance at getting a good one).

I'm not sure if you can get non-crafting powerscrolls from BoDs here. I've only gotten crafting powerscrolls myself. Even if you could get non-crafting powerscrolls in that way, doing champions is probably faster.

My first few months here I did Taming and Blacksmithy BoDs almost constantly. If you're organized, it's a great way to earn a pretty large pot of starting cash. In addition, you can GM those skills and even acquire 120 powerscrolls early.

It's best to use our wiki as a reference on BoDs, as there are some differences between Excelsior and OSI. Tower of Roses has good information as well, but again: there are differences on this shard. In particular, the BoD reward tables have been tweaked quite a bit. Our wiki lists the major kinds of BoDs and the associated cooldowns for acquiring them.

I would work on acquiring some BoD books to organize your BoDs. You can buy BoD books from players or craft them yourself with Inscription, if you care to invest in Inscription early.

Immediately after turning in any BoD, you can get another BoD without waiting for the cooldown. This is central to nonstop BoD-ing. Knowing which of your BoDs you can "burn" to get another BoD and reset the cooldown is crucial. This is where BoD books really shine.

BoD cooldowns are per character, not per account. You can make alts expressly for the purpose of acquiring more BoDs. You may need to use those alts' skillballs to get the relevant skill high enough to get better BoDs. To transfer your alts' BoDs to your main, simply drop it into a blue Excelsior market box. Each of your characters can see it under the Items tab and can withdraw it into his/her bankbox.

Large BoDs generally give the best rewards, and the largest taming BoDs give delicious 120 powerscrolls. But don't forget that there are some types of small BoDs that give useful items, such as Powder of Fortifying. There may be times when you want to turn in such small BoDs for the reward, even if that small BoD fits into a large BoD. When in doubt, check the wiki.

Finally, taming has some small BoDs that don't fit into any large BoD. Too many players ignore these BoDs as a key source of newbie income. If you notice, a good portion of the mobs you need to tame for them spawn in the same areas and (with 3 exceptions) are not aggressive. You can gather up these "dead" BoDs and go on a taming rampage. I often turn in dozens of these small taming BoDs at one time, pocketing a lot of cash for not much work and even less risk. And, of course, you can get still more taming BoDs after each turn-in.

Happy BoD-ing!

Very helpful you guys, I thank you both for the direct and informative answers. I also thank you for taking the time to reply. This has proven very useful and has made BODing a bit more understandable heh. Thank you again :)

This is incorrect. You can get all 3 of those PS's from champion spawns. I believe it is the non MoA ones that would drop them. I've gotten many from champs as well as LBODs.

Actually, the MoA (newb, xroads, marble, cove) champs drop ONLY crafting type PSs (and associated - like lockpick), while the rest of the champs drop the remaining set of bods, but NOT the crafting ones. And Taming is the only bod category that gives out powerscrolls (only 3 types mentioned by Tacityl, though.)

Hmm ok so from what I gather from the information provided here is:

1-MoA champs = Craft (associated) PS's but NOT non craft PS's

2-Normal champs = All other kinds of PS's

3-Taming BOD rewards only reward Tame Related PS's

4-Craft BODS (smith, tailor, carp) = PS's related to the skill of which the BOD is for, for example (i.e.-Smith bod reward will offer Smith PS's or associated?)

I am hoping I got that right from what I am understanding. It makes sense now, and quite good to know where to go for if one needs a particular type of PS (or attempt to attain) as I know its all percentage based for drops and/or rewards. This is all good stuff, and again many thanks and much gratitude for taking the time to provide this information. Thanks all :)

Wrong. It used to be the case on OSI, but I have never got a crafting PS from doing BODs and the reward table seems to agree with that - no mention of PSs anywhere (except taming ofc).

ah ok, gotcha, so only the MoA champs will give craft PS's. With the exeption of Taming BODs which only offer taming related PS's. My appologies for the misunderstanding.

I was scrolling thru and noticed on the tables as you have stated. Carp and Fletch do offer PS rewards. Anywhere between a 33%-50% chance from what I was reading it seems. Ha, this is good though, research research research. Thank you Yoda much appriciated. I think I understand now from reading the tables and the information provided here.

-MoA champs = Craft PS drops (smith, tink, etc)
-Taming BODS= Only taming related PS rewards
-Carp & Fletch = Related PS rewards (Bow/Fletch, LJ, Carp)
-Norm Champs = All other kinds of PS drops

Argh, mighty sorry 'bout that. I never did any Carp and only a few select ones from Fletch so I was a bit underinformed. Most I did was BS with some Tailoring and kinda assumed too much. ;) Thanks for clearing it up Yoda, much appreciated.
