Hi All!
I asked this question in [c but sometimes it scrolls by so fast that I miss things. I am hoping that someone here can help me.
My lumberjacking is almost 80. I chop wood and use a saw to turn the logs into boards, but I am unable to turn pine into boards.
I tried changing the saw menu to pine, but it says that I don't have the skills.
My question is; Do I need to raise carpentry just to be able to turn pine logs into boards?
Someone mentioned a "key" that I can use, but they are so expensive that it will be months before I will have enough money for that.
Thank you.
Ladimir

Yes, turning high-end wood types into boards is based on your Carpentry skill. The keys mentioned will do the task for you with no skill check. Yes they can seem expensive, but are a great investment.
If you are still under the 21 day mark, you can do the Rat Quest in the Newbie Dungeon every 30min. Sell the Organics you collect from the dead rats, as well as the quest reward on the [exex for decent money. I myself made my first 2million gold just doing that quest for the first 3 weeks on this shard. That gave me the funds to get a serious hand-up on my character.
You can also find cheap NON-Maxed Mules on my vendor at the "Mysfitz By Nature Guild House" (Under SHOPS on the World Tele) Granted you have at least 80 Taming, 80 Lore, even these low-end Pets make for a serious killing machine and will allow you to fight some of the stronger monsters in this game, and help you build up fast cash that way as well.
Hope that helps.

Re: lumberjacking
If I recall correctly you need the same amount of points in Carpentry to use a given wood type as you need in LJ to get it. So if a wood type has, say, 80 LJ required to cut it, yo uwill need 80 Carp to turn it into boards or anything else.
