Using Razor on a Vista System
Using Razor on a Vista System
Is there anybody playing here that is successfully using Razor while on a Vista Operatng System? I get get past the Account sign in page and I h ave tried everything that the Razor Forum and Colibri has suggested and still no luck. My macro finger is getting worn out.
Btw, this is when I try to log in with razor thru UO Gateway. I can't even get the Excelsior Dragon Screen when I try to log on Razor by itself.

Well, possible solutions:
- Install WinXP as a dual boot or on another drive
- Use an external macroing utility, such as MacroExpress or MacroMagic, anyway there's tons out there... can help you with the "click here, wait 1 second, do it all over again".
- Perhaps use another UO macroing program, such as UOAssist?
Checked out this thread yet?

It is possible. On my home system it works fine with vista, but on my laptop i have the same problem. I have been able to track it down to the login sequence. After the sync request the server doesn't send an ack back. As far as i remember about old uo protocol/connection stuff, this could happen when there are issues with encryption.
The weird part is that we don't use any :S
I have been able to get online with the laptop by downloading that uo gateway desktop thingy. After adding the server to favorites i can login.
I realize this probably does not fix your problem but just wanted to let you know you're not alone.
Good luck!

It's a lag issue i think - have you tried waiting 30 seconds? I know that even I sometimes have to wait till it connects and shows the server list or the character list. I think it's due to some ghost config that was left from the reconfiguration a week ago. I will restart the whole network someday and maybe it will help. Just takes a while longer to establish connection.

It aint lag, else oldman would have had the same problem when we both play at his place. Also, it doesn't happen occasionaly, it is consistent.
After months of my demise i logged in this week and still had the same.
We both are on high speed cable as well, hardly ever lag on the shard.
I'm just glad i can login with a workaround.
Pretty weird.

Re: Using Razor on a Vista System
Cygnus... i know EXACTLY what you are experiencing... unfortunately i have the vista (i didnt even know i bought it)... for a few weeks looking everywhere for a solution (im sure youve done the same...right?) here is what i did:
deleting razor
reinstalling razor
(repeat that proccess abuot 100 times) ... felt that long anyways...
it will give multiple errors...
install .Net Framework 1.1
reinstall razor 1.0.0
THEN
reinstall razor.latest
upon opening razor it gives an error like "razor was unable to locate a suitable file for uo cliloc" just ignore it an click okay
i clicked on the Use Osi Encrytion check mark (dunno if it makes a difference, but razor works for me so i dont touch it)
then put the shard address an port number
hope this helps

Re: Using Razor on a Vista System
I think you should also uninstall and install the .NET 2.0 redistributable you get from microsoft's website. It's a component of the .NET that's actually faulty, and razor then doesn't work because of that.
The cliloc error can be fixed with a simple Registry entry, let me paste the one that's inside the "prepatched bundle" that you can also download from our website:
(note, you need to correctly edit the path to your client.exe file or it won't work)

What is the shard address and port number?
If a turtle looses his shell, is he homeless or just naked?
Re: Using Razor on a Vista System
shard.uoex.net 2593
Re: Using Razor on a Vista System
Just for any of you that experience the same issue I had I should at least mention how I solved it for me. I finally had to take the UO Gateway files for this shard and rename them to the normal UO file names and drop them into the appropriate place in the UO Directory. After that, I was able to log into the shard directly without Gateway. Hope this helps any one who runs into the same problem.
Re: Using Razor on a Vista System
How about simply downloading the full prepatched thing from http://www.uoex.net/guides/startup

Re: Using Razor on a Vista System
I'm having some troubles getting Razor to work on my new Vista laptop. Hopefully this won't be a problem for long as I plan to wipe it and put on XP ASAP. Until then, I've installed UOEx to C:\Program Files\blahblahblah from the bundle and the latest Razor from its site. I then used the registry entry for C:\Program Files that was in the bundle, but Razor still doesn't detect it. I also tried running both in XP compatability mode, but that didn't seem to do anything. When I start the client itself, I can connect normally and play. I can specify the UO directory within Razor and it will start the client, but it gets stuck trying to verify the account.

EDIT:: Apparently I had the wrong port listed in Razor. When I changed it to 2593 as listed earlier in the thread, I was able to connect.
