*DOOM* questions =]

Post by Valhalla Taus »

So last night i aquired my first 1000 deamon bones, killed the deamon, got the golden skull.

question is, once i summon the ferry to cross the river, is there a timer on the guantlet? can I come and go, or do you have to slam jam through the whole thing at once?

Once inside the gauntlet you can not leave unless you are done with the Gauntlet. There is no timer on how long you can stay inside the gauntlet.

Not sure of your stats, but if you are a newer player with low hp, I recommend going with a group. Just ask in global if someone wants to accompany you. One skull can take your whole party into the gauntlet. JUST REMEMBER to party up before you ring the bell on the beach.

ive got two mules, fairly decent ones. ive got about 160hp, 145 dex..., all usefull skills are gm, including detect hidden for that shadowknight guy. i would be happy to get at least 2-3 bosses down, my only fear of a party is if its someone i dont know, they will do way more dmg than me and get all the credit? I only have a few people i trust on here lol, the people that have helped me anyway =] kind of a lone ranger when it comes to hunting...no RL friends play =\

Since the doom arties drop inside your backpack, as long as you do some dmg you should be fine. I am not sure to be honest if gold is dropped in Doom since it was removed a while ago (which is the only thing you would need to agree on beforehand). Maybe someone can comment on this.

The idea is to be able to do a few rounds at least (I think it took me around 12-15mins to do a full round solo w/ no pets). I dont think you will have a problem with the bosses especially if your mules will tank them. The only one may be the dark father that might do significantly more damage, especially since he spawns other mobs around him i.e. rotting corpses which will poison you. I suggest going with 1-2 other people at least at the beginning to see how things are. Once you get more hp and dex, you can go on your own.

Minibosses drop gold and items, as well the mobs do, which the darkfather spawns for his assistance. Just the darkfather himself has no loot in his corpse.

A 5-pack of maxed pets should be able to wipe out evrything in doom.
The trick is to set the pets to guard and let the bosses flag the player first.
Even if darkfather spawns his mobs and one of them will attack the player,
the pets will flagoff the boss for a short time to kill the mob, who trys to attack
the player and then return to the darkfather again automatically.
So just staying in some distance from the boss, healing pets by cleric spell
works fine.

Just as you arn`t able to use a sending bag, its a good idea to use at least one mule
or a 5-pack of them to carry out a much as possible.

Just note: don't take imprisoned pets since they are too slow and also when he says:

that doesn't mean arties. Arties drop directly into your backpack.

I've soloed Gauntlet for hours non-stop with my 5 Maxed Imps. (And a Large Bag of Holding for the Gold) [Granted I'm sure that is some time down the road for you.]

Since Mules and Imps are almost the same speed, if you're willing to go with Mules, there should be no reason to not go with Imps. But since you can't use a bag of sending you'll most likely be able to stay longer, and walk out with more gold if you go with a group of Mules over a group of imps or Nobles.

As you stated that before already, I thought, it wasn`t nessessary to mention about again.

Maybe to add...
One run serves a total of about 22-25k gold
plus items
plus, if lucky, artys (which drop in your backpack :D )

Well my doom run was a huge flop. I decimated the first 3 bosses with no issues at all. I get to the shadow knight and can't reveal him. Tried for a good hour. He was just sitting there hidden making noises and it just kept telling me there.oll Was nothing to revealso I paged a gm waiting longer. Said screw it and had to use the stuck command to get out..was pretty upsetting for my first time there.

You just have to use the tracking skill. it will point right to where he is. Once you know his location, cast the reveal spell in your magery spellbook and he will appear. The reveal spell has to be cast on the exact tile he is standing on to reveal him.

Reminding a hint from stratics:
"You must locate him (using tracking) and Reveal either with the spell, dealing area damage, or with Detecting Hidden. If you don't have the Tracking skill a good tactics is to have a pet set to follow the knight. When he teleports and hides the pet will follow and stop right next to them."

Also, if you dont want to fight that 1k bones again, you can buy a golden skull
from [exex for about 36k gold.
(Depends on the exchange-course)

btw tracking and reveal...
I`m unsure of the exact distance by being GM tracking,
but I can reveal him even if using the spell +1 tile from his location.
Maybe someone, who does gaunlet more often,
can tell his experience or knows, in which distances you can reveal
by which skill.

yea thats why im pretty sure he was broken for some reason. i have tracking, and the arrow was pointing right at him, and both of my pets were standing right to him making their horse noises and stuff, and i was doing AOE's, detect hidden, etc, and he just wouldnt come out =[. maybe Nyx will return my golden skull lol

oh well, maybe ill buy one instead of doing the demon bones, that was the part that sucked =[
