Banished naked to Felucca to die

Post by Vholodim »

I have a character I created who is an outcast and banished to Felucca naked to die.

Anyway, this character is strictly non-magery with the exception of spirit speak since it is a self contained character skill.

My challenge in Felucca has been acquiring tools. I finally managed to snag a weapon off a ghoul I mugged but I'm looking for npcs I can kill who drop things such as pickaxes/shovels/tinker tools/sewing kits, smith hammers, etc

I went to the orc caves in Felucca but the locked down tools don't seem to be player usable. I also tried various NPC huts and buildings I've come across but have found nothing usable by a player.

Any thoughts or guidance would be welcome : )

Sounds like a very interesting way to play. Good luck on this. I know life in Fel is hard with gear. Can't imagine how hard it would be with petty items you scavenge.

Loot tables seem to be different than what I remember.

Orcs used to drop tinker tools, sewing kits and the like...not anymore.

Lizardmen used to drop maces & spears...10 kills later no weapons.

I recall clicking locked down shovels & tinker tools in orc caves but these don't seem to be usable. My biggest problem is finding a shovel/pickaxe (I can't kill a gargoyle naked w/a katana) and tinker tools. Once I can find these in the wild somewhere I can start making gear or "living off the land".

Also it looks like if I close the client my toon stays in Felucca forever which was a surprise.

Orc lords don't seem to be dropping orc helms or axes like I remember they had. Although I am getting a few bola balls (for future savages), 1 bandaid now and then and a couple different weapons. Cooked meat once in a while is nice.

Upgrades are a katana with 63 durability vs 39 durability...kinda fun to be honest...but I wish I could find some tinker tools.

Let me know if you would like a care package. If used correctly you can start off with just 1 tinker kit.

Felucca in Excelsior is definitely not set up for crafting. You will find no freindly NPC's and few healers. If you get a chance to say "buy", they will most likely mistake it for "die" and comply with your perceived death wish. I hope you have mastered the art of stealth already, for to wander long without encountering an umm is nigh on impossible. But, if you can, try your luck in Covetous, something in their may drop things that you need. One thing you will not find is tinker tools as loot. That would need to be given to you or bought from a trammel tinker. If you have trained in lockpicking, you can also acquire pickaxes, reagents, ointments and maybe better weapons from them than the ones from the low level monsters that you encounter. Good luck in your endevours and adventures and keep us posted on how it goes.

Thanks for the offer of the starter kit...actually I have a developed character on UOEX and lots of resources at my disposal. I was bored with having everything and wanted to try UO in "hard mode". I thought about making death = delete char but too much time is needed to macro up skills.

I found some locked down scissors in Vesper I could use so now I have bandaids :D

Cygnus I maxed out stealth/hiding before being "banished" due to the umms. They really are an annoying mob.

I know that I can't buy or bank in Felucca...gold or goodies are of no interest to my character. He is basically playing "survivorman" in UO.

If I can't find a set of tinkertools in Felucca then this playstyle experiment probably isn't viable. I don't want to '"cheat" by bringing tinker tools from Trammel.

Don't suppose one of the devs or Colibri could tell me if there are tinker tools to be had in Felluca by a naked character and maybe a hint? : )

Whenever Britain opens back up, there was a banker there. Not sure if it is still there. As far as being like "Surviorman", even Les Stroud never went anywhere without his multipurpose tool and Bear Grylls always had his knife, so even those expert survivors weren't totally empty handed.

I really like your concept and your adventures could make interesting reading, but there are no vendors anywhere in Fel except maybe Wind and that is closed. So, that will force you to modify your limitations or abandon this venture all together. I for one would like to see you continue on.

Thanks for your input and guidance Cygnus.

Really the #1 bit of information would be if there are locked down tinker tools somewhere in Felucca that I can use or if they exist as loot on an npc in Felucca.

I did go into Felucca with a dagger but died and lost it : ) Unlike Bear (Man vs Wild) I have the option of a rez :D

good luck, i like your idea

ahh and you can find a animal trainer in the same town
Everything started with nothing...

This would be a fun idea if the gm's could enforce it somehow and give you a tag. Making your 'hardmode' character spawn in fel, never being able to trade items or pick up player dropped items

As for items, i would suggest keep hunting easy mobs till magic armor drops, when you can, hunt gargoyles till a garg pickaxe drops, then when you are ready use the pickaxe to spawn ore elementals and hope they drop a runic tinker kit. use said runic kit to create a standard tinker kit.

=)

This sounds like a blast I may give this a go
HACKSAW
It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.

This is an awesome idea. What would make it even cooler is if you were able to place a small (7x7) house to help you build up instead of having to store everything in the bank. Seeing as how you need the tinker tools to even be able to attempt crafting resource keys, it seems like lumberjacking/mining would be painfully hard. Definitely makes you focus back on the basics rather than killing monsters over and over.

I just scoured all of felucca and there is nothing locked down anywhere that you can use except for scissors and a few dye tubs. My suggestion if you still want to try this is at least go in with these minimum skills: taming, stealth/hiding and lockpicking. I was able to obtain a bow, and lots of arrows as well as armor pieces and other weapons as well as a pickaxe from the chests and crates in Vesper bank. Also, you can get wands and potions from the same chests to help you. Eventually, you will need to get tinker tools and I am afraid the only way was mentioned above by using a gargoyle pick. But, even a low level ore spawned elemental will most likely kick your butt and that is where some pets could help. Although there is a animal trainer in Delucia, you won't be able to breed your pets so you have to expect them to die alot. Also, there is a banker and healer in Delucia as well, so that might not be a bad place to start out in. But, my guess is if you succeed in finally making a decent character going this route, you will inspire many more to follow your path and give it a shot if you haven't done it already. Good Luck!

Man, if all it takes is one set of locked down tinker tools that can be used somewhere, this could open up a world of possibilities. I'm sure the staff could make that happen and it could add a totally new flavor to the game.

What an idiot I am. You can't pick any chests unless you have a lockpick, and how do you get a lockpick? Tinker tool of course. Back to square one. So, the only way I see this working is to go the pet route, which in itself will be extremely difficult; or "banish" yourself as a "banished tinker" with one tool in hand; or hope that staff will place one operable tinker tool somewhere. Either way, it would be a long, steep climb to to survivorability.
