I have never used Portal and tried many times yesterday and this morning. I cannot get Chat or Messages to load for anything. I can go to Forum and everything else on the top tabs just not those two. It loads and loads forever. I even walked away from the keyboard for like 15 minutes to do something and came back and it was still doing it. Someone in the game tried to help me and suggested to remove the cookies and cache so I did and the same thing is happening. Also when I log on to Portal on the bottom it says chat is disabled and to chose my name in settings and when I do it logs me out and when I log back in it says the same thing. It isn't saving my settings. Can anyone help?

I should mention I am using Firefox but have also tried Internet Explorer and got the same thing. I also updated my Java and same thing happened.

Are you running your browsers in privacy mode maybe? Those modes don't save any settings.

Privacy was on and I just turned off and it is the same thing happening.

Your not alone. Same thing "started" happening to me about 5 months ago. Have not been able to log in (portal) since.

Can you give some specifics on this for me. What browser are you currently using / operating system to access the portal.

The best 2 to use are IE and Firefox as Google Crome Oprah and Safari (the windows version ) handle some of the code in a differnet mannor resulting in some of the errors you are likley getting.

Things that you may want to try ( Reset your Browser to defaults and clear all Cache files ) ( ie Cookies and such )
in IE go to tools ---> internet options ---->> Select the Advanced tab and click on both boxes at the bottom of the pop up menu ... [restore advanced settings] and reset.... Mind you you may want to backup your favorites first before doing this just to be safe ...

With all other browsers make sure you have updated all of your external software plugins ( IE JAVA, ADOBE FLASH ETC ) and make sure the browser is up to date.

Not much else i can think of to solve this issue. I had the issue myself once. reset things and poof error went away.

Just a side note - I run Opera 11.01 on WinXP and have absolutely no problems with portal. I did manage to open it with Chrome on Win7 at a friends house too, so it's most likely not a browser type problem, rather a settings problem. Or some external software stuff (firewalls, adblockers etc.)

I have Windows XP at home and no clue what is at work but have tried at both places and had the same issue. I have tried on IE and FIrefox both and same thing happens. Could it be something in my account on the shard? I did do [account the other day and set up my email and password before I tried portal.

It could also be the database out of sync with the server (e.g. you previously played here, or someone with the same username, or you created the account and then the server crashed, etc..)

Email me your username (address on frontpage) and i'll see if it's anything related to that.
