Good to know stuff for Newbies

Post by Lyandrin »

Since I find it hard to get to know this shard with all its custom things I will try to post a list of a few of the more important things, that most players are interested in knowing about, Things I wouldve wanted to be on the guide section for when you start out etc.

Special Gathering items
Gargoyle's Pickaxe - Drops of Gargoyles, Stone Gargoyles, Enslaved Gargoyles, Gargoyle Enforcers, Destroyer
Gargoyle's Hatchet - Drops of Gargoyles, Stone Gargoyles, Enslaved Gargoyles, Gargoyle Enforcers, Destroyer
Gargoyle's Knife - Drops of Fire Gargoyles. Fiery, Sweltering are two of it's names

These all drop from gargoyles and lets you get the resource one tier higher than what you are actually gathering. It also has a slim chance of spawning an ore/leather elemental with a chance in itself to drop a runic hammer/fletchers tool or sowing kit. The elementals also drop ore/leather/wood of the appropriate type.
The Mules in Master of the Arts champ spawn also have leather in their backpack when tamed. I think 115 taming is needed to tame them to begin with.

*More info special ores, leathers and boards will come when I get the info*

Keys and toolhouses
Casters Keys - Lets you store all reagents for zero weight, should be able to use the reagents from within the key.
Crafters keys - Lets you store all ingots, leather and boards weightless to save up place and weight.

Crafters keys can be bought from tinkerers and the casters keys are obtained from a quest you get in britain.

Toolhouses are much like keys in that they store stuff in bulk, and they just store tools instead.
Runic toolhouses are just like they sound tool houses for runic stuff.

I mentioned this in your other post, but you can also get gargoyle items from random dungeon chests. I cannot remember what skill level you need to open those. To train lockpicking, the shard has built a nice lockpicking training center in Haven. I would strongly suggest all new players to make a lot of lockpicks from the tinkering skill, create a nice macro and go train lockpicking as one of those skills to train while catching some z's.

As far as taming the MOA mule, it is definitely less than 115 taming as I had tamed many of them before I ever made it to 115. Note: MOA mule has a fine line between being beaten into subjugation and being beaten to death! Careful with what you beat them down with.

Even at 115 they can be stupidly hard to tame, it just comes in streaks sometimes. I usually just punch them low and turn war off.

As for taming the mule, yes it's kinda an art. When i was still a player, i killed about 5-10 of them till i got it right. But once i learned, I don't recall killing any after that, and it's kinda like riding a bicycle - you never forget :)
Using the magic arrow is sometimes quickest but you need to know your strength. For example if you go from 110 to 120 mage, it shows on the strength of the spell, and you might kill it and then wonder what happened.
