To all new players, we're here to help, not rip you off

now this is my 91th day on Excelsior, though i know that many of you have played way more than me.

My point is, new(young)players, please do not just run off when somebody offers you help.
For the past time, i have encountered many new players to Excelsior and offered them help
While some have answered and i have been able to help them in a variety of ways(newbie tips or basic equipment)
others(and sad to say, the majority) have just run off in the face of me.

We all know that most of you have played the original UO for quite some time and may have some pride
Excelsior is a custom free shard and has many different rules and customized contents,
so it's not a shame to be a newbie,
we've all been through that situation.

For last, please do not ignore our genuine offers, and at least say 'no thank you, i can manage' if you wish not our assistance

Inappropriate? Not at all, i just don't get the title of this thread And, if someone refuses to be aided and simply runs away, it's their loss not yours. Wouldn't take it too personally

sigh...know what you mean, but i just wish to welcome the newcomers and make Excelsior more lively...

This probably won't be a very popular opinion but I think that a little cutting back on new player help would be a good thing. I've seen quite a few new players welcomed with 'Come to xxxx bank, I've got some stuff for you' as well as hook-ups on free stuff to relatively new players just asking in chat where to find/buy things. i understand that there are old-time bored/super-wealthy players here who are very friendly and/or trying to increase playerbase and player longevity. But I don't think it's a game economy booster when people are giving away 100% LRC full suits of exceptional platinum platemail and a petrified yumi every other day. What crafted items can players regularly sell except for super high-end jewelry and recipe arties? People throw runebooks and full spellbooks in the new player donation chest, nevermind scrolls.... I can't even imagine the point in raising Inscription here except to give things away. Giving items to new players can be a great ice breaker and the start to a good time on any server, for sure, but I think that it can go overboard as well. Besides, there's really nothing that makes a server feel like home more than conversation and companionship, and you can give those away all day without harming the economy a bit.

Not that i'm super rich or anything, by i do try to give basic advice of what to do when starting out
