Holiday Garland possible bug

I put the Holiday Garland up over my door to the entrance of my house. It worked well for about 16 hours. At that time I walked my character to enter the house, it crashed in the centre of the door. I tried to log back in, each time i selected my character and started to load the world, i would crash. I restarted my computer same thing. I entered on an alt, loaded up just fine. Walked through the door, crashed same spot, unable to get back in. I came on another alt, removed the garland, still crashed. I cleared the client cashe and now all characters can log in. The Holiday garland is in a chest close to the door now.

Strange, After using it fine for awhile i crashed again and couldn't get back in. The cashe file wasn't back in the "melkor" folder so I just deleted the folder itself and then it let me log back in. Both time when i logged back in i was in the exact centre of the door. In fact because the door was closed the door went right through me.

I don't know if its the garland or not, but the door has worked fine for the last two years.

EDIT: I have went into house customization, removed the door and put in a wall and saved it. Then went in again and put a door back in. Going through fine for the moment. still have the garland just in the chest.

I really doubt it's the garland. If it was, you'd crash any time you even looked at it, and others would likely crash interacting with it as well. I came and checked a few times, and had no problems myself. The garland itself has a base item very frequently used across the shard, and the graphic isn't corrupt... I just really doubt it's the culprit.

What it sounds like to me is that some file or other on your install has become corrupt and is causing wonky issues when it tries to write something to your cache. It could also just be a snobby door - +V had a weird issue with doors the other night as well, and maybe the server needs a reboot (we always get very weird, very random 'bugs' when the server wants a reboot, almost as if the server is throwing a bit of a tantrum lol). I'd try customizing and doing new doors. If that doesn't work, reinstall your game from scratch. You can copy out all your hotkeys before you uninstall your UO folder so that setting back up after the reinstall isn't so painful.

For sure, so far since I changed the door to a wall and back to a door, no further issues. Garland back up now too.
