Destash Raffle

Post by +Nyx »

The Destash Raffle system has been updated and is now open.

Changes to the raffle system:
- Each raffle will now accept roughly 3 categories of items. This means that ~3 rooms will be open each time, on a random rotating schedule. Plant items will be accepted into every raffle and will not count as part of the 3-categories rotation.
- Raffles will now run until the ticket goal is reached, up to a maximum of 3 months. If, at the end of 3 months the ticket goal has still not been reached, door prizes will be given based on the number of tickets submitted. Each raffle thread will explain the ticket level requirements for each door prize + grand prize.
- Tickets will be wiped after every raffle. Partial tickets will only be wiped every 4th raffle.
- Each raffle, players who do not win the grand prize will be eligible for a small prize if they submit a certain number of tickets. This number will change, and will be announced in the forum thread for each raffle.

Details for this raffle:
- The item categories accepted for this raffle are: Gauntlet Artifacts, Champions & Harrower, and Peerless & Bulk Orders. As stated above, plant items are also accepted.
- Players submitting over 50 tickets to this raffle will receive an additional small prize. This is reduced from 75 in previous raffles.
- This raffle will run until the ticket goal has been reached, or until May 10th, whichever comes first.
- There will be a participation reward for players submitting 5+.
- The Grand Prize for this raffle will be a unique patch-graphic weapon to be used as a sample for a relayer. There are 3 displayed and the winner will be able to choose which one they want. The winner will receive the displayed ticket, and will need to page me to redeem it.

The goal for this raffle is 300 tickets.

For further information regarding the raffle, rules, as well as a complete list of items which are accepted, please visit the following link: http://www.uoex.net/wiki/Destash_Raffle

All of the usual destash rules apply. If there are any issues, send a page in-game. As this is the first incarnation of this version of the system, it is subject to change at any time.

What does that means?
Tickets will be wiped after every raffle.
The tickets i used into this raffle will not continue for the next one like before, or the tickets i have, but haven't used yet will vanish?

Please tell us how you really feel.

I guess the best defense is a good offense in this case.

The tickets submitted in this raffle will not carry over to the next raffle. Tickets you haven't used won't poof.

I don't remember asking for your 2c on the matter and it's not at all pertinent or useful discussion, so I'm not sure what the point was there.

I suggest modifying the gump that states that the full ticket will last for the following 2 raffles. I submitted one today and that's what the gump said. It is clearly stated above that they will be wiped BUT it could cause confusion.

BTW interesting idea with the rotating rooms, I am sure it is to limit the number of tickets submitted by one person but rather spreading tickets submitted out as much as possible among players' hoarded junk.

Thanks for opening the destash.

Changes made:
- +skill items from BODs have been moved into the BOD room. Previously they were accepted on the "Miscellaneous" box due to a limitation in the script for the drop boxes. +C had expanded that awhile back, so now I'm able to add more items to each box.
- colored scissors added to the BOD box.
- "Miscellaneous" box moved into the hallway and will be available for every raffle, the same as plant items will.
- Required number of items per ticket for all items on the "always available" boxes have been increased.
- Wiki pages updated to reflect item & process changes

Is there supposed to be a tool tip on the partial tickets, because at the moment there isn't.

C'mon folks, let's all pile on Marx. How dare he chuckle at the irony inherent in someone, anyone, ranting about the -possibility- that others might behave like "drama queens."

And yet you both reinforce why the statement was needed in the first place...

Exactly.

I certainly didn't 'rant' in the wiki. I remarked facetiously (with 2 words) on such rampant and immature behavior rather than calling it exactly what it is - idiotic trolling by people whose own lives are so unhappy they feel the need to start crap on the internet - because calling it as it IS would have been unnecessarily aggressive for a freakin' wiki page. However, every event we hold there is at least one player who goes out of their way to start some mess, so it had to be commented upon. If we don't make it clear what's going to happen when someone misbehaves, they try to argue they "didn't know" they couldn't be such a jerk. This way it's clear.

If someone has a problem with the way a wiki page/post is worded, they are free to send me a page and speak to me about their concerns like an adult. Unfortunately, usually those players tend to approach just like Marx did - rudely, condescendingly, or otherwise in a way guaranteed to make the situation into exactly what you're trying for - drama. I think it's sad I have to remind a bunch of folks who should be adults by now of this - but if you go into a situation treating the other people around you like crap, they are going to react in kind. If you randomly and for no apparent reason make snide remarks, the rest of the interaction is going to progress based on that negativity. If you don't want negativity, don't perpetuate it. Or, to radio-edit a rapper - don't start no crap, won't be no crap. I wish I could say I was sorry to disappoint you guys, but I'm not - I just don't have the time or inclination to be out to get anyone on a UO shard I volunteer part-time for. Even when I'm here, there are far better things to do. If you don't want drama, stop starting it.

Edit: Also good to note a couple things. First, the wiki page has been that way since May 2014 with no issues. Secondly, I made a post announcing the destash raffle, and did absolutely nothing mean, aggressive, or impolite to anyone in said post, yet Marx follows up as if he is a hero swooping in to comment upon Big Evil. Those of you in sympathy with him should take a step back and consider the fact that his original post was out of the blue, rude, unnecessary, and in direct violation of the codex. Behavior like that is not heroic, it is childish. I know it's the cool thing to see me / the staff like a supervillain but I assure you, it's just sad to see you all working so hard to see things that are not there.
