Getting started

Post by Exxo »

Hello!!

I have had an account on Excelsior for a while, but have not really got started with anything other than roaming around as yet. Just looking for some ideas of where to get rolling ... from the type of character ... to what i should be doing. I have played alot of old school RPGs and UO has always eluded me ... and I always seem to come back to give it another try. Its not as easy as games like EQ or AC to get moving i think.. so I figured i would ask for some advise :)

THANKS!! in advance for any advise !!

Welcome!

I'm at work right now so will have to be brief, but this is a good place to read and make a start and it explains a lot of vital points about the server.

This may lead you to more specific questions once you start exploring. Happy hunting!

There is no skill cap here and skills raise at a high rate comparatively. As a result, you can usually buy skill up to 30 or so (at 10gp per point), and you can start with a max of 50 in any given skill. This is my long winded way of saying, don't stress the up front points as it will not matter much in the grand scheme of things. At best you are talking a 20 point skill differential that you need to pay form in terms of resource costs. Make your character and in a few hours, you can be a Grandmaster (100 skill) in most crafting skills.

Ok good to know... Now should I go with a melee or casting character to start? And where should I start training up any combat skills ? Sorry for all the questions lol! I just want to do this right.
