NOW....I see that the gifted shard of excelsior has decided UPON THEMSELVES to introduce a 1 percent change in prices on the excelsior exchange

WHICH BTW IS ACCESSED VIA TYPING [EXEX...in case the excelsior shard failed to explain themselves...something that the veteran staff fails to make clear to new players(newbies)

I MYSELF have decided that that this is not fair. By making this decision without the shards' contentment, I will say that this will not only stifle the economy but have players lose interest in [exex

I will say that if we mirrored the ACTUAL stock market. we would see changes of .01 dollar. or 1 cent. which is 1 gold.
when you say stocks vary by 1 percent. it is not only a stifling of the econ....but also a stifling of the investor.

Now I understand the difference of 1 gold not being much. but it is a penny. and it is a measurement. 1% does not work as it equals large amount of high priced commodities. It will never work...and the shard will see a de-activated exhange

I only see a deactivation of participation. not a de-activation of inflation!!!!! which the shard SHOULD be working towards

A 1% increment in either direction change is to keep people from doing endless undercutting just to be listed as the cheapest seller on the market.

The change has been in for about a week, barely enough time to make the determination that it will work or not.

Also, EXEX does not equal the stock exchange....

This change prevents people undercutting by tiny margins, which will in fact help the market rather than harm it. Needing to list items for either the same as others have listed it, or for more or less than 1% of what others have listed for (which is a tiny number in and of itself even on larger transactions) is reasonable. It is also more fair, as those who listed their buy/sell order first will have their orders completed first when others have listed for the same amount - rather than having someone list for 1gp more/less than them, so that this new person's order showed up as the going rate and was thus completed first. Anyone who's willing to buy or sell for more than 1% different than someone else, then yes that deserves a 'bump', and their order will be the one displayed first. In the end, it's a change that was discussed and thought about for nearly a year now and that +C has decided to implement in this small margin first. It may or may not increase or decrease later on.

Also, we don't need "the shard's" consent (which is what I assume you meant to type instead of 'contentment') to make changes. That's our job - to decide what changes should be made, and to make them. Players here have the luxury of easy access to talking to the staff members, and the luxury of frequently being included in various changes or decisions; however that is not a right you have by playing here, it's not something you're entitled to.

If you wish to express your opinions in the future, do so in a less dramatic, rude way. You're just coming off like a troll so far.

... and then, heaven forbid, they'll probably decide to sell items via forums, world chat, vendors... how awful for them.

If players don't want to utilize the exex because of this change, there are plenty other ways for them to sell their goods for whatever price they desire. The exex is a convenience, and that convenience comes with certain restrictions.

I'm guessing you are one of the folks who were abusing the undercutting/overcutting by 1gp thing previously, and you're angry now because you can no longer use that method to mess over the other players. But, let me assure you, in all the time the staff have been discussing and mulling over this change before it went in, we repeatedly saw many players angry over someone undercutting them by 1gp or pricing things up by 1gp so their buy order got filled first. We didn't just make this change for no reason.

The [exex system is clearly stated in the wiki and there are books on top of the exex boxes in britain and town center (might be in other towns too) explaining how it works. And don't forget the helpful players on the shard, it's nice to see when at peak hours a single question in WC can get ~10 players responding in a few seconds ).

Post Scriptum: Lot of people seem to forget - as stated in the codex - playing on the shard and participating in the forums is a privilege, not a right.

yep, i will use the exex more often now that the change has been made. and Mallam, remember, this shard IS NOT a democracy. we are allowed to play here if we want, as long as we follow the staff's rules. if we dont like something, we can constructively talk about it with everyone. or we can leave. its that simple. there is no need to be melodramatic and come off as a troll.

Auctions have had minimum increases since the beginning of time and EXEX is basically an auction.

Also this shard is more of a Republic not a Democracy. We voice our opinions to our representatives (+Nyx, +Veritas, etc) and they weigh the pro's and con's accordingly and may or may not enact what we ask for. The most successful governments on earth have worked this way. Its been fine for years
